LTE version of the Huawei Ascend P1 in the works sporting same specs, but larger battery?
Last week, we were introduced to the Huawei Ascend P1, a souped-up Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich that really managed to take some people by surprise with its high-end specs sheet. Although its skinnier sibling in the Ascend P1 S attracted more attention, due to its claim of being the world’s slimmest smartphone, word has it that there is actually an LTE-enabled version of the Ascend P1 in the making.

Web site Blog of Mobile is allegedly reporting that there will indeed be an LTE version of the Huawei Ascend P1, which sports a very similar specs sheet, but will accommodate a slightly larger battery. In addition, it appears as though they’ve managed to obtain a leaked image of the device in question – though, a quick look at it might have some people scratching their heads. For some odd reason, it reminds us of the Google Nexus S by its overall shape.

For starters, this LTE enabled variant drops the squared corners that we see with the Ascend P1, and instead, it opts to go with a rounded approach with its corners. Secondly, one will easily recognize the trio of Android capacitive buttons underneath its display, which is alarming considering it’s clearly running Ice Cream Sandwich – albeit, it could simply be a prototype unit at this point.

In terms of specs, it’s reported to feature a 4.3” qHD Super AMOLED display, 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon CPU, 1GB RAM, 8-megapixel snapper in the rear, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 1080p video recording, and a 2,000 mAh battery. Rather than using a TI OMAP CPU like its siblings, this version opts to go with a Snapdragon instead, while its 2,000 mAh battery is a natural justification.

If it can somehow retain its overall figure without increasing by much, it surely will be impressive feat when it arrives in the flesh – then again, we’ll be a bit cautious with this one until more concrete information arises from the ground.
