At the Society for Information Display's annual show that started on Sunday, LG Display will be showing off a new unbreakable and flexible 5- inch plastic OLED panel for mobile devices. Having an unbreakable display is becoming more and more important to consumers who need to be able to take their smartphone anywhere without worrying that one false move will lead to shattered glass. The display will include a 1.0mm bezel allowing for the production of lightweight smartphones without borders, that give off less heat

SID display week started Sunday in Vancouver, Canada and runs through Thursday. Besides the 5 inch flexible smartphone display, the Korean based manufacture is expected to reveal a curved 55 inch OLED television display, a 23.8 inch Ultra HD panel for monitors and a 14-inch Quadruple HD (2,560X1,440) panel for laptops. Lastly, LG Display will reveal the first 7 inch FHD display for tablets with a pixel density that exceeds 300ppi.

LG uses a different technology for its flexible display than the process employed by fellow South Korean tech giant Samsung. Recently, it was discovered that due to problems Samsung has had mass producing its flexible displays, the next iteration of the Samsung Galaxy Note will sport a non-flexible OLED display.
