LG Optimus G and Optimus G Pro should be updated to Android KitKat in the coming months

If you own an LG Optimus G, or a slightly newer Optimus G Pro, you’ll be happy to find out that both smartphones should receive official Android 4.4 KitKat updates pretty soon.

According to LG Brazil and its official Facebook account, the Optimus G Pro will get a taste of KitKat starting July, while the Optimus G should receive the update a month later, in August. It’s not clear if the updates are expect to arrive to all Optimus G and G Pro users around the world, but we see no reason for this not to happen.

LG Brazil also mentions that the LG G Pro Lite and LG Optimus L7 II should get Android KitKat, too, apparently before the end of the year. Other handsets will likely join them, but we do not have specific details on this right now.

In case you’re wondering, LG didn’t say anything about the newly announced Android L, but we’re pretty sure that at least some of its latest smartphones will get this brand new version of the OS. It remains to be seen if the devices mentioned above will be among them.

Update: AT&T's LG Optimus G Pro already received KitKat a few weeks ago.
