LG Optimus Black wins race of smartphones in new LG video
Getting a tour of Europe before an expected launch in the U.S., the LG Optimus Black is a sleek device with a 4 inch NOVA screen that offers a brighter 700 nit display, all in a package that weighs just 109 grams and is 9.2mm thin. As a way to promote the lightweight design of the Optimus Black, LG put together a video of a smartphone championship race.

The competition was cleverly given names that make it fairly easy to identify. For example, Ivan, with a 3.5 inch screen, is the Apple iPhone 4. The Samson Gary S. Jr is none other than the Samsung Galaxy S II. There are two other phones that compete in the race and we won't give away the result, although you probably can figure out which handset wins.

As we recently reported, the LG Optimus Black is now available for free from T-Mobile U.K. with a 2-year contract costing the equivalent of $41 a month or more. Hopefully, the unit's visit to the States will be coming soon.

Samsung Galaxy S2 Engadget review = 9/10 LG Optimus Black Engadget review = 6/10 I know which one wins THAT race! Also the video states the SG2 runs 1ghz, and it's 1.2 Never let the facts get in the way of a good bit of PR!

Mmmm Dumb video, but the best part was probably the Iphone crashing and hearing that sound! Made smile... Did they forget the S2's Dual Core Processing speed?

Very funny. So much companies are advertising for thickness of their phones but they all have bumps and irregular thickness (except Iphone4). If you put all these phones on a table, you will see that S2 is not the thinnest (due to camera bump). The communication for LG is based on weight (Black more lightweight) and the max thickness (Black thinnest because no bump). Very good advertisement. We all know that LG choose not to give this phone a dual core, and LG never say that it is the more powerful. But the phone ratings are mainly decided according to power processing. So why do some persons comments and rawly compare with SG2 without saying that Black costs 400 USD/EUR and S2 costs 700 USD/EUR ? And why not saying that only gamers really need dual core ? Do you think there is a lot of persons that know there is a camera bump on GS2 and that despite lower thickness is 8.5 mm, max thickness is 9.9 mm for GS2 ? NO. But may be some will buy only because they think to have the thinnest phone with GS2. So this advertisement is not at all uninformative.

dumb ad. by dumb company lg...sgs2 is far far far better than these craps having 8.49 mm......grow up ..sgs 2 best smartphone ever...u cant compare with 1ghz toys

Thickness for SGS2 is 8.50 (min) to 9.90 (max) due to camera bump. LG Black thickness is 9.2 (min and max). Easy to see if the 2 phones are on a table. LG is advertising primarily for weight (Black better with 109 g) and max thickness (Black better with 9.2 mm). In the real world, there are a lot of persons that don't need more than single core 1ghz phone, and in this advertisement, LG didn't focused for power processing. It is not a review. And don't forget that the Black costs 60% of the price of SGS2. It is a funny advertisement.

Hmmmm... $400 vs $700... People are too rich to care about money these days... Plus it could be Galaxy S 1 because it said junior and it said 1GHz
