They even got bumped to a new major version, 3.0 for Google Phone and 23.0 for Contacts. If both of your apps now look white, it means you've already updated to the new iterations. The latest updates bring the all-new white Material Design with tints of blue, but white for the most part.

The Contacts app also got a new option that will allow users to add custom fields and “File as” to their contacts, as well as some bug fixes and stability improvements.

On the other hand, the Google Phone app gained some improvements to navigation and accessibility. That's just about all you get in these updates, but the most important addition is the new redesign, which seems to change on a yearly basis.

No it doesn't. It looks bland and is disastrous for your battery-life if you have an amoled screen. That Google STILL is that stupid is beyond me.

What do you on web sites like this where it's all white? OLED seems to need the entire world bend knee so they can be effecient. Some of us, prefer non OLED and the option for dark would be ok, but it shouldn't be the only option because hardware inefficiency suffered by a select bunch.

OLED doesn't have to perform badly on a white screen. It's just that it's more energy efficient when the screen is black. It power efficient even on a white screen.

Most dark themes look amateurish and Galaxy S2 Samsungy. No thanks. Lighter themes look more professional.

Everyone is mad at a mostly white UI. But the thing is that should be the precursor for a dark mode if they flip white and black.

UGLY UGLY UGLY. What do app devs even do these days! made crap that looks like software for Win 3.1?? Only back and white themes now. Best we go back to monochrome LCD displays then.

I don’t have a problem with the new design, but I do wish they kept the swiping between pages
