Apple lit the mobile industry on fire two days ago with the official announcement of the new iPhone crop and the long-rumored wearable, the Apple Watch. Undoubtedly, there was a surplus of notable events during the keynote, and among these was most probably the compelling wallpaper that graced the iPhone flagships behind Tim Cook's back on the stage at Flint Center. We are talking about the blossoming purple flower, you remember this one, right?

Well, this wallpaper will make an entree alongside iOS 8 on September 17, but as usual, it won't come alone. There will be a number of new wallpapers alongside it, and while these are currently available in the freshly-released Golden Master edition of iOS 8, it will take a while before regular iFans can treat themselves to some of the new wallpapers.

Fortunately, the graphic designer behind the wallpaper, Jason Zigrino, has made the iOS 8 wallpaper collection available ahead of the official rollout. The wallpapers in question have been directly extracted from the Golden Master firmware. Feel free to check them out right below.

If the wallpapers below look like your cup of tea, you can download the high-res ones from here.

I dont like how the iPhone wallpapers are all portrait Because I use the mode where the wallpaper moves when you move page The Retina iPad and Mac wallpapers work very well though

.........wait, what? It's a phone. Most people use a phone in portrait mode, so what are you saying you don't like how the iPhone wallpapers are all portrait? All smartphones wallpapers are portrait. Why? The only time you'll see it is either on your homescreen or lock screen O_O

I use the mode where you set a landscape wallpaper and each homescreen zooms in on a part of the wallpaper So I try find wallpapers that are above 3240x1920 res So each of my 3 pages has its own 1080x1920 section of the wallpaper

You're just too stupid to understand more than big numbers.

Nope, what you're thinking of is the parallax effect on the still wallpapers. What I'm referring to are the stock live wallpapers that come with the OS.

He's right. iOS 7 comes stock with live wallpapers. They're known as "Dynamic Wallpapers".

These are the highest-res ones currently available, we'll probably need to wait for the 1080p iPhone 6 Plus versions.

Can't see anything interesting about centered flowery objects, placed on flat backgrounds. From design perspective, this kind of backgrounds work quite bad with grid of icons, making a huge distraction and messing the icons appearance. Second thing, this aspect ratio makes them impossible for scrolling effect on Android devices. What I like much more, is what Motorola is recently doing with walls, and also Sony, Samsung, HTC for that matter.

Those wallpapers are made keeping the lockscreen in mind I guess. walls like 9,10,11,14 for the homescreen.
