BlackBerry 9670 flip phone heard to be exclusive for Verizon & Vodafone?
For those who question the clam-shell style factor being used on the recently leaked BlackBerry 9670, they will be surprised to know that it wasn't RIM who ultimately chose the new look to preview their next generation platform. It goes to show what kind of grasp wireless providers still have in the industry as it's being rumored that Verizon commissioned RIM with the specs required for the handset which included the clam-shell design, 5-megapixel camera, and updated interface. From there, RIM did exactly what they were told and now it looks as though that both Verizon and Vodafone will be the exclusive provider for the handset. Not being thought of as a traditional BlackBerry smartphone, the 9670 looks to be marketed to as a hip device for a younger target audience. Naturally looking at the leaked photos of the handset, it's clear to assume that the device will be affordable seeing that it's speculated that RIM also had to meet a pricing criteria put on by Verizon.
