Asus Padfone X to be released by AT&T
It looks like AT&T will launch the Asus Padfone X, a new hybrid device that hasn’t been announced yet. We first heard of the Padfone X in December, thanks to a leaked benchmark. Now, @evleaks says that AT&T’s version of it should be revealed today (January 6) - which makes sense, since Asus is getting ready to hold a press conference later today at CES 2014 in Las Vegas.

Like the older generation Padfones introduced by Asus, the Padfone X consists of a smartphone and a tablet dock. According to previous rumors, it runs Android 4.4 KitKat, featuring a quad-core Snapdragon 800 MSM-8974AB processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory (likely expandable), and a 5MP rear camera. Its tablet dock seems to have a display with 1920 x 1200 pixels. There’s no word on what size the screen of the Padfone X smartphone is, but it may be around 5 inches.

@evleaks doesn’t say exactly when AT&T expects to start selling the Asus Padfone X. Details on its price also remain a mystery for now.

Asus will likely announce the Padfone X alongside a few other new products, possibly including a dual-boot Transformer. We’ll let you know more when everything is officially confirmed.

I don't think it has a 5MP rear camera seeing as how the current one has a 13MP rear camera.

Correct.... The camera only shows 5 MP when it is docked in the tablet Because for the image to display in the tablet's horizontal display, it has to crop the 13MP vertical image from 4128 x 3096 to 1700 x 3096 pixels = 5MP That is the problem when the phone is docked in portrait and the tablet is in landscape possition So indeed the camera should be 13MP NOTE: You can override the default 5MP image in tablet mode, and make them full resolution but the preview will be vertical in the tablet's display

I have never seen a real pad phone around. Where do they sell this?

This'll be the first carrier in the States to carry it. Otherwise I think it's only online.

I have seen it in Germany, in Saturn Stores... (similar to a Best Buy)... But they only had the PadFone 2 which is comparable to a Galaxy S3... I would love to get either this one or the New Infinity... they are the only ones compatible with my country's network providers... I only hope that when the PadFone X launches in the States, they bring the cost down a bit... Right now the infinity is still insanely expensive online...

or buy it from an unlocked store I wanted the 10.1 inch one love to see a note size phone go inside a 10 or even a 11.6 inch tablet in the future!
