Apple may be shipping 5 million iPad 2s in July alone
Some leaked information from part suppliers for the Apple iPad 2 suggest that 5 million touch panels have been ordered by Apple in an effort to ramp up production and strengthen their grip on the still young tablet market.
There are multiple companies that are responsible for supplying these touch panels. Wintek and TPK handle the heaviest load and it is believed they shipped between 1.4 and 1.6 million panels just last month. To meet the demands of Apple they will need to step their game up as well as the smaller suppliers such as the company Cando, amongst others.
It is also possible these touch panels could be designated for the rumored LTE-capable iPad that many believe we will see at some point in the next few months. As it stands now though, the Apple iPad 2 is outselling every other tablet out there and is aiming to move further ahead of the pack. Tell us what you think in the comments below.
