Android 5.0 Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 gets previewed on video

Android 5.0 Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 gets previewed on video
While Samsung didn’t say when its Galaxy Note 3 would be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop, it’s probably going to do it starting early next year (with the Note 4 likely getting the update first). Until then, if you want to know what Lollipop looks like on the Note 3, SamMobile has some screenshots and a video that show exactly this: Google’s latest version of Android running on Samsung’s Galaxy Note flagship from last year.

Assuming you’re all familiar with Android 5.0 Lollipop and TouchWiz UI, there are no surprises on the Note 3 - though we have to mention that the default green color that Google is using throughout the UI (in the settings menu, for example) has been changed to Samsung’s blue color in some places. SamMobile mentions that, at the moment, the Lollipop-meets-TouchWiz UI on the Note 3 is rather inconsistent and doesn’t really offer a good user experience. Hopefully, by the time the update is ready for Note 3 users to download, Samsung will take care of these aspects.

Not long ago, Lollipop updates for the Galaxy S5 and for the Galaxy S4 were also previewed. We’ll bring more on Samsung’s software update plans as soon as new details arrive.

I'm so disappointed! What about the app icons, notification bar icons, font, wallpaper and btw, that little thing called MATERIAL DESIGN?

There will be no material design as long as there is touchwizz. LoL

Man what the heck have Sammy done??!!!!!! I am seriously considering moving to another brand because that UI is just butt-ugly! Problem is I don't like any other phone than the Note3....ah well xda it is...come on boys show some love to Note 3. That UI was bearable with the AMOLED blacks but this is just ugly....there is no visual overhaul....except background to whte and some circular icons...settings look so plain with that really ugly non-material design blue shade. If Galaxy S6 is being designed with that UI...and reports claimed it was from scratch...then its just plain disappointing! Come on Sammy do better...I love TouchWiz features....just give it all a Material Design Love!

I don't see the problem its just a non matching wallpaper with the neon color interface. Change it. Its Android not iOS or WP8. You could discard the whole Touchwiz for ASOP Material design at a click of a button.

I never thought that Android users would be asking for Vanilla Android over Skins seeing as to how customization is the unique feature of Android that many love.

Just because a fraction of Android users want Vanilla Android doesn't mean all Android users do the same. There a still a looootttt more Android users out there, and there sure are many who prefer Skins. "Be together, not the same". (I'm one of those who don't really want vanilla android.)

I think there some basic question we need to asked, is material design a Google Design or a Samsung design. People that can't deal with TouchWiz should not consider Samsung Phone. I bought Samsung phone because i like TouchWiz on the whole. I know i only use a very small portion of the feature set but i am happy with what i have enabled, Smart Stay, Pen Action Menu, disable the motion feature completely. Still different strokes for different folks. None of my Note 3 friends has the same configuration as me. Truly together and not the same.

s**t, Samsung! Grab AOSP, change a couple colors, add your drivers, features, the minimum possible of your bloat apps and services and that's it!! A perfect ROM and the world would love you again!!! How hard can it be!!!

Then go buy a Nexus. It's a Samsung phone, not your boring, buggy Nexus. Go live with a 247 nits display and pathetic batterylife. Samsung or any other brand is not going to give you stock android, ever. You get Samsung ROM, everybody knows that. Don't come and cry here why Samsung doesn't give stock Android. Stop being an idiot.

It doesn't look bad at all. I just don't understand why Samsung never updates their clock/weather widget when they do an update. It's the same clock/weather widget that the SGS4/Note 3 had when they were released with Jelly Bean.

I think it looks fine. It pretty much looks the same to me as the wifes note 3 on kitkat. The only thing i care about are performance and battery increases. As long as we get those two things enhanced i think we should all be happy.

if this is what Lollipop is going to look on note 3, then its of no use.. Sony And LG have much better UI on their Lollipop roms... Samsung just scrap the Touchwiz UI

They change the new Android kernel and bring all related 5.0features. Lookwise just use a custom launcher.

Looks the same as what I have now on my Note 3, with only inverted menus. They're just white instead of black. Not impressed. Next.

Guys, stop complaining. There is only one guy at Samsung doing the TouchWiz UI and he is doing it all with MS Paint. He needs time to update the icons (another 8 years should be enough).

You've seen Samsung's rendition of TouchWiz on KitKat, right? It looks just like TouchWiz on Ice Cream Sandwich. Samsung is not going to change the way TW looks for any of the Android releases.

I think its a waste of time trying to update this device now since samsung has forgotten its predecessor the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and samsung has note even added any new features from the 2014 UI. As specially in this update there is no Ultra Power saving mode (essential) provided. Please Samsung add an Ultra power saving mode.
