AT&T teases the Asus PadFone X, still no word on its release date

It was back in January when AT&T announced it would sell the Asus PadFone X later this year. Since then, the carrier has been quiet about the new device. However, today AT&T took to Twitter to remind us that the “Asus PadFone X is a 5-inch FHD smartphone that transforms into a 9-inch FHD tablet”, and to ask “how would you use a larger screen?” The text is accompanied by the image seen above.

We can only assume that this means the new smartphone-tablet hybrid will be released in the near future. AT&T has yet to reveal how much it’s going to ask for the PadFone X. At the moment, the PadFone X page found at AT&T’s website only says that the device is “coming soon.”

Running Android 4.4 KitKat, the Asus PadFone X features LTE-A connectivity and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM-8974 processor. More details should be unveiled pretty soon.

Don't know what is up with the 9 inch tablet, I don't know why they released a 10 incher with every other iteration of the 5 inch phone and then a 9 inch in NA...makes no sense.

Well.. to me it makes even less sense to pair a 5" phone, which IMO is too big... I would love to have a 4.5" phone transformed into an 8-9-10" tablet I don't care about the tablet size too much... but the point to me is to have a Portable phone and a Comfortable tablet...

I am glad to see that I am not the only one who thinks this way!

Yes, and by the way, I meant a 4.5" phone with High End specs... unlike the PadFone Mini which basically it has similar specs to the first PadFone. I am talking about a 2013 Infinity with a smaller phone body.

I know I have been preaching this ever since phones have gone to the 5 inch plus range. Whats wrong with having a phone that is a decent size (in the 4.5 inch range) with flagship specs? I beleave that more people would be interested in that. With the size that phones are getting these days it wont be long before we are holding tablet sized phones up to our ears and to me thats just retarded!

Wow, look at those bezels on the tablet. Those look bigger than the bezels on iPads before the iPad Mini/Air.
