8 of the best music players for Android (2015 edition)
It's no secret that dedicated music players have lost their popularity since smartphones became our do-it-all devices.

While it's true that a dedicated music player / portable media player usually delivers an audio quality that many smartphones can't offer, most of us are happy with what our handsets are capable of in terms of music playback.

Right now, Android smartphones can be considered the world's most popular music players (since Android has been the dominant smartphone platform for years). Thus, it is no wonder that there's a myriad of music player apps for Android. We already presented you two lists of Android music players (see here, and here), but since the last one is from last year, we had time to discover other players that you may want to check out. So, here they are, in alphabetical order:

For real, PowerAmp is one of the most popular music player in the Android world. How can you not include that in this post Florin?

I guess, it's because they had PowerAmp in their last year's article :-)

As far as I know, the best Android music players are those you need most

PowerAMP and PlayerPro are two best players Android has from beginning. Most feature rich, most stable, very polished. Sound quality is same on most apps, it really depends what chip does your phone have. I prefer PowerAMP just because of its design, but I love the way how PlayerPro handles lyrics support. But from all players, iPhone's is the best :)

I cannot agree with iPhone being the best. Personally, I used the iPhone 2G until iPhone 5, and the audio chip produced by Cirrus Logic audio sound really bad to my ears starting with the iPhone 5. The reason I only kept my iPhone 5 for 2 weeks mainly because of the audio quality along with battery duration. I gave a listen to a 5S, 6 and 6 Plus...all the same! If you have the money, try buying a iPod 5.5 or iPhone 4 and compare the audio quality with iDevices after 4S iPhone music player interface is still one of the nicest though =)

You are not quite right. Sound is not the same on all the player apps. Yes, the phone chip does matter but how the players manage DSP is what matters a lot, so for example, I find that PowerAMP uses much better Digital Signal Processing compared to most of other music players for Android. It can be heard clearly for those who are using HQ headphones/earpieces

the default player works fine. why would you need a 3rd party music app?

Many bundled music players lack specific functionality that people want... My favorite is Walkman though it lacks Gapless playback and for many people that is a crucial function.

Eh? But in my Walkman app, it does support gapless playback!

Actually, every oem has a different music player, so they aren't the same from the beginning....so he had right....default works great.

What's sad is that apparently Google Play Music is NOT considered one of the "Best Music Player Apps for Android." Despite it being a good music player, and the only one that lets you optionally store your library in the cloud.

We included GPM in last year's article:http://www.phonearena.com/news/Looking-to-blast-some-tunes-Check-out-these-8-Android-music-players_id58575 Listing it again wouldn't really make sense, especially since I've mentioned that we already had two older lists of music players, and provided links to them.

How is possible android smartphones are considered the worlds most popular music playes? Didn't another music player called iPhone 6 sold 75 million units? Didn't the other music player called Galaxy lost 30% marketshare worldwide, even in Korea? Am I missing something?

Yes, you are missing the full numbers worldwide. Apple rose quite a bit this year but the vast majority of smartphones are android, and many people use them as music player, including myself.

The full worldwide numbers of what? What are you talking about?

The full number of Android that sold worldwide in 2014..i am sure apple has a small pie compared to Android..

Android is a piece of software controlled by Google , is not a phone manufacturer.. Are you talking about the amount of apps they sold in 2014 ? Android is not a phone oem, is the OS that runs on some phones.. Apple is a whole company, they actually produce and manufacture things..

I am not interested in what Apple is-- at least in this article. Smartphones that runs android are collectively sold many times higher than iphones. Technically, they are the world's most popular music player. I don't know your point of post or are you trolling?

Smartphones that run android are not collectively sold.. Those devices actually compete with each other.. there is not such thing as android phone either.., Those phones have names like HTC and samsung, don't put them all together in the same box.. whats next ? Android is the most copulat camera in the world ? How can you people give credit to the software without mentioning the hardaware?

if an iphone come with android....what it will be called an android phone or iphone...? just curious

Whatever!! Whether they are collectively sold or not. All the above music players are compatible with every smartphone that comes with Android OS, may it be HTC, or Samsung. This article demands nothing more you troll
