128GB Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge no longer available in India

128GB Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge no longer available in India
While Samsung did remove the microSD slot from the Samsung Galaxy S6, and no such slot is offered for the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, the company tried to placate consumers by offering a version of the two phones with a whopping 128GB of memory. But this morning, the 128GB variant of both phones was quietly removed from Samsung's Indian website.

The reason for this move probably comes down to price. In India, at launch the 128GB variant of the Galaxy S6 was priced at the equivalent of $970 USD, while the 128GB Galaxy S6 edge cost $1116 USD. Samsung cut the price afterward by as much as $140 USD, but it apparently was too little, too late. The high price likely led consumers to settle for a model with a lower amount of internal memory.

The 128GB versions of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are still listed on Samsung's websites in other markets such as the U.S., Canada and the U.K. And since Samsung India has not issued a statement, there is a possibility that the storage-heavy version of the phones make a reappearance in India sometime in the future. If we had to guess, we'd say that a return could take place just before the start of the holiday shopping season.

It's insnaley priced period. It costs Samsung nothing whether they use 32, 64, or 128. It costs them the same amount of money to drop 128 as it does 32. Samsung and Apple and other OEMs, use storage sizes as an excuse to charge more. They simply could have provided the S6 and S6 Edge with 64GB for $699 and 128GB for 799 and to me that would still be a very reasonable price. The best way to tell OEMs we dont like what they are doing is to not buy their crap.

Sorry I am lost to what makes you think that ufs costs anything like emmc 5.0, emmc is cheap crap and there are very cheap ver of it going like what apple used in the iPhone 6+ It cost Samsung some big time cash to make 128gb ufs, so please get real http://www.thessdreview.com/daily-news/sk-hynix-announces-next-generation-64gb-ufs-universal-flash-storage-2-0-solution-based-on-their-own-16nm-nand/

Cut the crap, it costs more but not that much. You know that but you defend Samsung. Everyphone is overpriced because people love the brand and pay too much willingly.

Overpriced? Yes because they have to feed the R&D. Consider the billions they spend on the display technologies, storage elements, memory, processor. They have to spend to keep the lead. Else they can become spoilers like xiaomi or meizu by merely copying bits from everywhere, but never become number one.

R&D? Im sure samsungs biggest costs are marketing

13.8 billion us dollars was what they spent last year for r&d just in mobile tech, dont forget the new battery tech 2 if not 3 times the density using graphite silicone

Nope if you noted in the above link they are only selling 64gb, Unlike Samsung that as design 128gb and its only just been made and they got to get ther rand d costs back, the 128gb ufs is not going to be cheap, it's not like apple where that just using the cheapest deal they can get on 128gb and than charging you top cash, this cost Samsung big cash to add so they in there rights to charge way more than they are doing, you only RIP users off when the part is added on the cheap with no r and d and then sold at an hi price like apple Please note note if Samsung was using emmc 5.0 and 16gb with no sd card support like apple, I be all over them and saying they rip us all off big time, but that not the case

Please note Samsung are in ther rights to charge $10,000 for the 128gb model, users are just thinking the apple way but this is ufs, Samsung as worked out a way to make 128gb ufs why others have not, the prices Samsung are charging are a good deal and its there randd that made it so samsung can sell it at a good deal and cover rand d costs, get back to me when apple stats using it, hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahhaha If you ask me if the 6s is not using it than review need to say it's not up to spec and give it 6 out of 10 for rip us off I will not say the same for other oem as it's also a trade over an sd card support that they offer now, that apple as never used

Moron from another world

33. willard12 unregistered

Don't be mad at me. I promise that the system where a person's level of success is determined by heridety isn't my fault. It may be an issue that should be taken up by the courts. However, since you have to be from a higher caste in order to be a member if the court, change problem isn't coming. Now, that is truly moronic.

Talking about system we follow Democratic system that you must be aware of unless you from some Middle East countries like UAE or UK where there is still Monarchy which is obviously hereditary where members from only one family is considered ROYAL. You must be living in some another world or even another planet to say to be member of court you have to be from higher caste. You must have faced some seriously harsh racism where ever you(probably USA) from to say this.

Like I said, you guys can't understand why the S6 is expensive. And talking about brains, I wouldn't be able to talk right now if it is indeed nowhere to be seen. All of us have brains, but not all have common sense, just like you.

Yep and for most of them 128gb is overkill, there always a price vs comfort and the comfort from 128gb is not worth the extra cost with average income in India. I won't spend Rs. 20,000 extra to get some extra space when I can easily keep backup. Rs 20,000 is more than monthly income of most. In USA, I earn more than 20,000 in a day so I would choose comfort more than saving extra cost. And please go f*** yourself, if you think there are people who don't understand more than you. You don't understand s***.

Foolish people always blame the customers...if companies like apple and Samsung charge so much more for some extra memory, they are intelligent, they know business but when the customer refuses to pay unfairly high price for the extra memory that he may never use, he is cheap? I would say Indians think like businessmen.

Galaxy phones are tested in India, many of them are manufactured in India, foxconn is planning to move it's iPhone manufacturing units to India....You certainly don't need to tell Indians why s6 is expensive. The head of Android at google is an Indian himself. Infact, you don't understand why the s6 is expensive.

Customers just don't want to pay this sort of money for an Android phone. I certainly wouldn't dream of spending iPhone like money on an Android device.
