Video shows what happens when you text and drive
As a warning to those who continue to text and drive, Fort Myers police have released a video of a driver losing control of his car and crashing. According to the cops, the driver had been texting and driving and starting swerving his Pontiac Grand Am outside of his lane before hitting the sidewalk. At that point he hit a guard rail, a bus stop sign and a tree before the car flipped over upside down.

The incident took place on January 4th at 1am and the 23 year old who was behind the wheel admitted that he took his eyes off the road so that he could continue texting. He was cited by the police for careless driving and texting while driving. The video was taken by a police car trailing behind the Grand Am, using the dash-cam.

Next time you are in a situation where you find yourself texting and driving, think of this video and put your phone down. This guy was lucky that he wasn't hurt. You might not be so lucky.
