The Apple iPad was responsible for 88% of tablet based Black Friday shopping
What are people doing with their Android tablets? Certainly not browsing or shopping.  By all accounts, the Apple iPad still accounts for a large percentage of tablet based web traffic, and this showed up with a figure from IBM showing that Apple's slate was responsible for a whopping 88% of tablet based shopping on Black Friday. Online sales rose 20.7% year-over-year and 16% of that was done on a mobile device, up from 10% last year.

The main device used for these mobile online shopping forays was the Apple iPad. According to IBM, Apple's tablet "generated more traffic than any other tablet or smartphone, reaching nearly 10 percent of online shopping," which was followed by the 8.7% of sales made over the Apple iPhone. All Android devices were responsible for 5.5% of online sales on Friday. Concentrating on sales generated by tablets on Black Friday, the Apple iPad was used in 88.3% of such transactions. The Barnes and Noble Nook, Amazon Kindle and Samsung Galaxy tablets accounted for 3.1%, 2.4% and 1.8% of tablet-related Black Friday shopping respectively.

One stat that IBM failed to compute: how many Android tablets were purchased using an Apple iPad on Black Friday?
