T-Mobile stores across the country opening early on June 19 for a special promotion?
Anytime you see carrier stores opening up their doors for business earlier than their normal operating hours usually hints to something big that would require an all hands on deck strategy by store management. There was a leaked document, probably sent out to T-Mobile employees, to let them become aware of a promotion that'll be the center of attention on June 19th. Although we've already reported on how T-Mobile plans on extending its current smartphone BOGO promotion, there is this underlying notion that it could be something else bigger than their BOGO offer. It's speculated that it could be something related to the myTouch 3G Slide that's looking to be their biggest handset launch for the summer. In the end, we can all just imagine what else it could be, but it's said that T-Mobile will release more information soon regarding the matter. Nonetheless, we can look forward to some in-depth conversations with T-Mobile employees bright and early at 8:00 AM come June 19th.

The proof of an iPhone to T-Mobile switch could be speculated with a lot of examples inside T-Mobile. First, Apple’s Safari web browser now seems to have no issues with rendering T-Mobile’s website (meh – it’s small, but stick with me). Second, T-Mobile’s new smartphone data plan prices went up to $30/mo last October, matching those of AT&T’s which Apple stakes $10 of each month. That’s odd for a company that prides itself as being the value leader. Third, a CEO changeover, with Philipp Humm who was credited in T-Mobile’s own press release stating, “he was also responsible for the successful market introduction of the iPhone® in Germany in 2007.” Fourth, Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) kicks off with a keynote speech from Steve Jobs on Monday, June 7th in which the iPhone 4th Generation will be announced which is almost two weeks prior to Saturday, June 19th. This gives T-Mobile employees plenty of time to train. Fifth, T-Mobile will undergo a MASSIVE remerchandising of their corporate retail stores on Tuesday night, June 15th. And sixth – Do you REALLY think that T-Mobile would spend extra labor hours to launch another Android device – or (and did I really read) a new “Sidekick”? Come on. I love Android as much as the rest of you. But the iPhone is the only device that I know of which generates lines around buildings and city blocks. 8AM people. 8… A… M… AT&T stores in the past opened at 8AM for iPhone launches too. Chew on that. And look at the tentative schedule below. *myTouch 3G Slide release – June 2nd (complete availability June 16th) *GARMINfone release – June 9th *Apple WWDC Keynote Speech – June 7th *Nokia E73 Launch – June 16h *Unknown June 19th “Special Promotion” @ 8AM – iPhone on T-Mobile Launch? (speculated) *Samsung T359 “Smile”, T479 “Gravity 3″, T669 “Gravity T” – June 23rd? I could be totally wrong about this. But I stand my ground believing that I’m right.

Interesting info. But wouldn't the cat already be out of the bag at WWDC? I supose that if the iPhone will in fact be multicarrier and Tmo gets it, then June 19th would be a promotional iPhone pre-order date?? Now that would be worth opening up early for because if only Tmo and Att get it first then there will be a flash flood of new Tmo customers... Also I highly doubt that there is a new device of any kind waiting for us on June 19th so pre-orders sound more likely

Being a Promotion and the fact that they will need more employees in the store, It's gotta be either selling a bunch of phones or signing up a bunch of new/extended customers. Lets see, could be All phones are free with contract? Hell why not they actually made the myTouch free. Big discount for customers porting their numbers over?... Whatever it is I'm guessing it wont have anything to do with me or make me regret buying the Slide next week. There's what a 30 day return policy? or 2 week?

Apple released their 3GS model on At&T last year on the same date: June 19th 2009...Coincidence? Maybe.

T-Mobile is not getting an I-phone. As an employee, we would have heard about this back in January. We always hear about a phone about 6 months before the press does. We even new about the I-phone on AT&T before that deal was finalized.

Also an employee too. For some reason I don't see the iPhone coming but that's just me. Still kinda excited about what this could be. Haven't been told anything yet.
