Square Trade: Apple iPhone 6s more durable than Samsung Galaxy Note5

Square Trade: Apple iPhone 6s more durable than Samsung Galaxy Note5
Extended warranty provider Square Trade put the Apple iPhone 6s and Apple iPhone 6s Plus through a series of "torture tests" and discovered that the this year's models might be the sturdiest iPhones ever built. Both iPhone models scored well on bendability with the iPhone 6s Plus actually scoring better than the iPhone 6s and the Samsung Galaxy Note5. The latter had a terrible score for surviving a face down drop, and all three models, while not officially waterproof, will apparently survive getting wet. Just the other day, we showed you a video of both new iPhone models submerged in water for 60 minutes without suffering any apparent damage.

If there was a vulnerability for the iPhone 6s, it was the thermo test where the phone is examined to see if it can stand up to extreme temperatures. The iPhone 6s Plus scored a little better on this test, while the Galaxy Note5 outperformed both Apple models under extreme temperatures. By the way, in case you were curious, the Apple iPhone 6 and Apple iPhone 6 Plus tended to bend when 110 pounds was applied to each device. The iPhone 6s can handle 170 pounds before bending, with the iPhone 6s Plus able to withstand 190 pounds.

Overall, with a lower score better, the iPhone 6s tallied a 4.5 according to Square Trade. That topped the 5 rating scored by both the iPhone 6s Plus and the Samsung Galaxy Note5. All three phones are considered "Medium Risk" by the company.

Aluminum will be better than Glass in any form factor. I am not surprised. People will be buying iPhone 6S n + for status symbol not for durability. People will be buying Note 5 n Edge + for look, functionality and multitasking features not for durability.

"People will be buying iPhone 6S n + for status symbol not for durability. People will be buying Note 5 n Edge + for look, functionality and multitasking features not for durability." Aunt Tutu, are you serious, or are you purposely trying to make Android Fans look stupid?

Antutu is just one person. You're an idiot if you think he represents a whole group of people.

That was my point... Do you also think that iPhone ONLY sells in record numbers all over the world just for status symbol?

29. nuldolor5x.com unregistered

I think so. But when looking at the scores, I see basically no different. 6s is smalller than note 5 and scores 4.5, while 6s+ scores 5, the same points as the note 5. What's the major differen?

People's buy iPhone for its user interface, looks and for the apple logo on the back for the status symbol. If people wants phones for only status symbol then blackberry also holds big part in market share. But there are few isheep's there who just buy iPhones for status symbol.

Yes. In fact in the Philippines the iPhone is consider a status symbol as anyone who has one is considered rich because of how much they costs. Try to understand the average filipino makes in a month in incomes what is equal to $350USD. When you have a family of 3 when rent is 1/3 of that and you have to eat, most dont have cars and clothing and untilities which are high, that money does go far. So if you can afford a $1000 phone you are consider rich. But you wouldnt understand. http://www.macnn.com/articles/13/10/09/ownership.of.iphone.rising.dramatically.among.teens.loyalty.to.ios.high/ http://www.cnet.com/news/iphones-not-clothes-represent-social-status-for-teens/ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/sandip-roy/status-insanity-why-the-i_b_5801748.html http://phone.instantcheckmate.com/dialed-in/iphone-status-symbol Now please try to skate around those links. In fact, google lands 107,000 hist for that result.

I bought an iPhone 6S for durability and for apple services like facetime, iMessage, airdrop and Photostream because tons of my friends have these services and before you tell me why random strangers you have never met bought their iPhones, because all they did was sign in once and the entire phone including 3rd party apps, gird layout, photos everything came right back on to their new iPhone. Buy an Android and apart from google services you need to manually set everything up. So how does that work with your statement? You speak for 13 million people who bought the iPhone during the last 3 days as as well as for me? Your comment is the perfect example of the problems in the comments section of phone arena, senseless statements with no proof, but bias against apple and some weird love for note. The note is a regular android phone, its not special. Android itself is awesome.

Well Said, the 3rd paragraph makes it a post of the month! There's one distinguishing feature that makes Note 4 and 5 not a regular android phone and that's the S-pen: it is the most accurate, latency free, and portable accessory on a smartphone. I can also attest that Note Series pushed phablets to a state of normalcy and that's pure Samsung - they made that happen, (gotta give props where their due).

The thing is both phones are incredibly durable. You'd definitely want the 6S to be more durable than say a 32Gb Note 5, because the 6S is almost $300 more (outright).. So essentially iDumb users are paying for a few points more durability when in most cases both 6S and Note 5 will have zero issues vs the original iPhone 6 #bendgate issues

That's what happens when you try to copy the complete $hit from Apple. Samsung needs to go back to being the OPPOSITE of apple.

new phone a is better then a bit older phone b! Really? in this day and age if it wasn't wouldn't it be sort of a problem? That said the screen score seems off for note haven't really heard anything about it breaking easily, wonder how these tests are done.

And yes, I know the age gap between the two is small, my point is that news like this is hardly sensational, and the real competitor for those two phones isn't the note series anyway but galaxy series.

Do you ususally just read the headlone or also the contents? 6s - 4.5 6s Plus - 5 Note 5 - 5 ** Lower score is better. All phones are considered 'medium risk'. There is no significant difference between them at all.

It isn't. And anyone who defends Samsung's decision to go with a CURVED glass back on the Note 5 is an idiot. I own the device, and it is stupidly slippery. The coating on this thing suck, it is super smooth, and to add to it's misery, they decided to add those curved sides. Don't get me wrong, the curved sides would've been great IF it was done with some other material. I will not upgrade to any further Samsung flagship if they opted to have this glass back again on the S7 and Note 6. And the new iPhones are great phones, but apart from the processor, they are definitely not a "beast".

Really? Because videos don't lie. What we don't know is how they may have tested the phones. So here is a video which shows the iPhone 6S. The first drop was on the bottom and it only suffered some mindor scuffing. The second drop was on its face from less than head height and it cracked the glass on the very FIRST attempt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xio8ms7keFU The 6S Plus also broke on the very first front facing drop. Again how did they test if in real life the phone broke right away? Hmmmm? Lets see how you get around the video. I didnt go hunting for lots of videos. I picked the very first one that came up in the Google Search. Now, again for the Note 5 the guy here which was the first video on YouTube when I did a search used a similar machine as OEM use to test. It too, broke on the very first face and rear drop https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Od3UWz9gdk8 Which one is more durable based on these video? NEITHER! if you drop a phone flat on its face, its more tan likely going to crack. Based on my experience, concrete or surfaces that are rough, will most definitely shatter a glass, while tile floors with very smooth surfaces most times dont. Also Porcelain flooring will crack a glass faster because Porcelain causes some type of chemical reaction with glass and it shatters instantly on contact.

The graphics shows that all 3 phones pose the same risk based on final scores. The iPhone wasn't better at all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Od3UWz9gdk8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xio8ms7keFU The first YouTube results brought up these 2 videos. Both phones broke on the first face drop from just 5 ft. Here is what you dont seem to understand. What makes a glass break is lots of things. But the main thing is the surface type. Surfaces that are ruff like cement/concrete with break a phone. Porcelein flooring is smoother, but breakage is caused by a chemical raction. if you take pure porcelein and just toss it at a glass windsheild, it breaks as if you threw a brick at it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhlmKHbPFhU

Actually if you look at the graphic in this article, the iPhone 6S scored 4.5, the lowest of the 3, which would mean it scored better than the 6S Plus and Note 5, which means it came out better according to square trade. Not sure where your getting they all pose the same risk based on final score, when it clearly shows different. Stop trying to skew the results to assist your Apple hate.
