Samsung Gear S3 gets a firmware update in the US
The Samsung Gear S3 was released in the US nearly three weeks ago and so far, it appears to generate some positive responses. Just yesterday, it got a brand new official app – a speedometer that uses your GPS to give you real-time data on how fast you're moving. Now the latest Samsung smartwatch gets a new firmware update. It's a minor one, though.

The new update is 14.06 MB in size and it features two tweaks. The first changes the time zone in the World Clock app for a portion of Russia. The second is labeled as “Improved GPS performance” for S Health and Golf Navi.

We're sure that Samsung is working on even more improvements that will be released soon, and we hope that Samsung Pay support for the Google Pixel is one of them.

The watch needs an update to fix Samsung Pay; on my S3 Classic when I use Samsung Pay my transactions and subsequent rewards points aren't being credited in the Samsung Pay app. However, in the Samsung Gear app/in the Samsung Pay subsection of the app, it does show my purchases. I called Samsung and they are "investigating the matter" and I tried going to a Best Buy Samsung Experience kiosk, but they didn't even want to veture a guess. I love the watch but this issue is very frustrating!

Its because Samsung Pay for Gear is separate from the Samsung Pay on the phone. I agree they should join them, but is it really that big of a deal? Since most of the places I frequent don't even support NFC, and I use my phone anyways out of habit, I think it doesn't matter much. I'm sure they will, but there is a reason they aren't together. One did come out before the other. I think all they have to do is tie the Samsung Pay to your Samsung account and that would solve that quickly. Why not contact them via email and make the suggestion. They always answer, unlike other OEM's. I sent them a pissed off email about gimping Samsung Pay on the Note 7 to try to get people to return it. They at least acknowledged my frustration.

I did contact Samsung, and they said they'd call me back. Hopefully they really will. And yes they should join both aspects of Samsung Pay (Watch & phone) because I want the rewards points I'm owed for using Samsung Pay, regardless how I use it. I'm keeping my hopes up that they resolve the issue, because I really like the watch a lot, and the MTS is a killer feature.

Can't wait to get mine. Should be here by Friday. Woohoo! MST/NFC in one single device. Every other wearable in this category, are all low battery-life having, no feature having pieces of garbage at all price ranges. The Gear is far more useful. Especially now with both MST and NFC, along with it original features of a UV Sensor, HR sensor, WiFi, BT and more. My GS2 has been awesome.
