Samsung Galaxy S8 screen protectors appear on a video clip

A new video has surfaced that allegedly shows screen protectors for the Samsung Galaxy S8. You can see how the screen includes the dual curved edges, the various sensors on the top bezel (including the iris scanner) the thin side bezels and small bottom bezel. The video was originally discovered on weibo. The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to feature a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display carrying a 1440 x 2960 resolution. Depending on the country where the phone is being purchased, you'll find the Exynos 8895 SoC or the Snapdragon 835 chipset under the hood.

The Galaxy S8 will be equipped with 4GB of RAM with 64GB of native storage. Those seeking additional storage can access the 256GB capacity microSD slot. The rear-facing camera is 12MP, and includes an f/1.7 aperture allowing users to snap decent photographs under low light conditions. OIS is included. The front-facing camera weighs in at 8MP and captures wide angle selfies. A 3000mAh battery keeps the lights on, and Android 7.1 will be pre-installed.

The Samsung Galaxy S8+ will have the same specs except for a larger 6.2-inch display, and a higher capacity 3500mAh battery. Both models are expected to be equipped with an iris scanner and an IP68 certification for protection from dust and water.

The devices should both be unveiled on March 29th. Earlier today, we told you that the rumored launch date of the two handsets has been pushed back one week to April 28th. The delay is now being blamed on low yield rates suffered by Qualcomm and Samsung on the production of their new 10nm chipsets.

Check out the video of the Galaxy S8 screen protectors, which can be found at the top of this story.

Looks like the author gets the display resolution wrong again. Its rumored to be QHD+, not QHD.

Was about to write the same. Are PA authors that stupid? The resolution cant be 1440 x 2560 due to unusual aspect ratio. isnt that obvious?

I know right, what they're saying is the same as bashing PA for including "No 3.5mm jack" as a feature to the iPhone 7. How stupid! /s

So based on the colored portion of the protector, we are getting stuck with protectors that only adhere to the bezels again? How hard is it truly to put a full adhesive coating on the curved screen?

I really like that the edges are very subtle. It gives the best of both worlds: great looks and ergonomics while having minimal distortion.

That top bezel tho, too much noise.

And I find the "noise" at the top bezel pretty stylish... as it denotes how sensor-packed and features-packed the phone is!

In the video at 0:14, the protector is most definitely blue. Please, oh please let this mean Blue Coral S8/+ will be available from day one. I get why the S7 Edge in Blue Coral came so late, but other than that, Samsung has a tendency of revealing more color options several months after launch.

All these curved tampered glass screen protectors are bound to get loose due to the curved screen, and they likely wouldn't work well with cases. I think film screen protectors like Incipio's are be closest protection to real glass, I use one on my Surface Pro 2 and can barely tell it's there, even when writing with my active digitizer. However, they only protect from scratches not screen drops, but at least they'll work fine with a case for that purpose.
