According to a report published today, Motorola is going to be releasing a device called the Motorola Moto M. With a model number of XT1663, this phone was actually run through GFXBench a couple of weeks ago. Judging from the specs, this might be considered a compact version of a 2016 Moto device, although the report says that the handset will keep the design from the 2014 Moto lineup.

Based on the GFXBench data, the Motorola Moto M will feature a 4.6-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920. Under the hood is a MediaTek MT6750 chipset carrying an octa-core 1.9GHz CPU and the Mali-T860 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside, along with 32GB of native storage. A 16MP phone is on back with an 8MP front-facing snapper for selfies and video chats. Android 6.0 is pre-installed.

According to today's report, the phone will sport a fingerprint sensor on the back, embedded into a dimpled Motorola batwings button. Another interesting thing about this device is that back in June, the XT1662 went through GFXBench with similar specs. The only difference is that the latter was powered by a MediaTek MT6755 SoC with an octa-core 2.1GHz CPU on board.

The Motorola Moto M is expected to hit the market later this year.
