Rouge One: A Star Wars Story-branded Google Cardboard headsets are announced

Last year's release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens created for a marketing craze unlike anything we've seen in quite some time. The promotional goodies that were released in anticipation for the film were tremendous, and one of my favorites turned out to be those free Cardboard VR headsets that Google gave away for free on the Google Store. I nabbed a couple of them for myself, and although I've only used them sparingly since I got them, they've continued to look insanely cool on my bookshelf.

In preparation of the upcoming film Rouge One: A Star Wars Story, WOW! Stuff has announced that they'll be releasing something quite similar. The company will be releasing two new VR headsets that are certified to work with Google Cardboard apps, and you can get them in designs of either an Imperial Death Trooper or K-2SO from the movie. The designs for the viewers are actually quite impressive, and for a Star Wars fan like myself, it's got me wanting to add more of these themed Cardboard viewers to my collection.

The headsets can be used on both Android and iOS-powered phones, and in addition to working with the Google Cardboard app and other VR-specific software, you can use it with the Star Wars app for the ultimate Star Wars VR experience.

If you're interested, the new Rouge One VR headsets will be available from Tesco for £15.99 a piece sometime around the middle of December. They're currently limited to the UK with no mention of US availability, but here's to hoping that changes soon.
