Prototype Motorola handset seen in live image

Motorola may already have rolled out the Moto Z, Moto Z Play and Moto Z Force among other handsets this year, but it's quickly becoming apparent that the fun may not be over. Along with several leaks of an unreleased Moto M, Evan Blass recently shared an image of another mysterious device bearing Motorola's famed design language -- perhaps the fabled 2016 Moto X. Now, Weibo has thrown yet another potential Moto device into the works, though unfortunately, the live image doesn't include any possible details.

As you can see from the rather grainy snap above, the prototype-looking device is quite similar in appearance to the Moto Z trio as well as the Moto G4. It seems to have a fingerprint scanner as a home button, and there's the 'moto' branding just above the display. There's also the 'M' logo in the top left-hand corner, though we suspect this may be just a sticker.

We know it's probably not the Moto M, and since Motorola has said in the past that the Moto X brand is 'alive and well', there's definitely reason to believe that the Lenovo-owned firm has a sequel to last year's Moto X Pure

Whether this device is it, we're not so sure, but we'll pass on any new info as and when it arrives.

I don't get evleaks. He made a big announcement saying he was done with phone leaking...and less than a week later, he was back at it. Must be a hard to kick habit, like cigarettes.

I gathered it was Lenovo that pushed the Style/Play/Force product differentiation. Before the acquisition it was pretty much just E, G, X, Droid.

My moto g4 running unofficial cm14. Nougat!!! Thus is why I love moto, development community is so strong. This ROM is stable except no video recording which I don't use anyways. I want a moto x when this dies so bring it on.

Typo: the gallery at the bottom is showing the moto x 2013, not 2014.

Less people would care for the shape of the fingerprint sensor on the Z's now, so this change in this prototype might not be significant to them.

I think the bigger question is not whether a new Moto X exists, but rather will it be marketed to the western world. Moto went all in on the Z line and mods this year.
