Pre-order period for Kin One and Kin Two to begin May 6th, shipping starts May 13th?
An internal Verizon email report should put a smile on the faces of the young kids that are Microsoft's target demographic for its Kin One and Kin Two handsets. According to this email, Big Red will start accepting pre-orders for the messaging duo starting on May 6th and just a week later, on May 13th, Kin One and Kin Two will be launched across all of Verizon's retail channels. The Kin One is the handset formerly known as the Turtle and looks to be a shell of a device with a slide out portrait QWERTY keyboard, a 5MP camera and a 2.6 inch display with resolution of 320 X 240 pixels. The Kin Two is a candybar form factor with a 3.4 inch capacitive touchscreen and resolution of 320 X 480 pixels. The camera is an 8MP shooter with 8GB of flash memory. We are still waiting on pricing for the handsets, which are aimed at the segment of the population that likes to be no more than a thumb-press away from staying connected.

while you're laughing, verizon will be raking it in since there is a HUGE market for the young, social networking generation who is going to pay the pricey plan for these phones

eh.. i dont think its quite as big as you might think.. most kids that social network, already have an i pod or i phone or have upgraded to a new android. these phones are marketed as devices that do all in one..and they seem like some of the best windows phones to date, however, thats just it.. they are windows phones.. i dont know anyone that uses the zune player or has a zune subscription... its almost like that stuff never caught on.. if they think this is going to sweep vzw and be the money maker.. they are sadley mistaken. My opinion, they need to have more social networking apps on android and they should just keep pushing the android phones.. they are insanley popular and growing fater then any mobile platform in the last decade! they will be cool but they wont really make a huge dent in vzw market share.. i dont see people jumping carriers and these certainly arent a must have device... but they are pretty cool...

I just don't see what purpose these phones fill. If you are serious about Facebook, get a Blackberry and take advantage of its push notification technology. And while Blackberries aren't as cool as they once were, they still have a very good FB app. Or be cooler and more flexible and get an Android phone. Or grab a Palm and take advantage of the possibility of early upgrade and the Mobile Hotspot app. But no external memory, no push notification, and no native app store means fail.

I see these KIN phones makin an impact if the price is right...i don't think they will become the next flagship phones, but may definitely be a better option than an EnV Touch. Again, if the price is right tho. Palm Pre Plus/Pixi Plus sold maybe 7 units nationwide when it first dropped. Now since the instant rebate, free mobile hotspot and BOGO offer, they have been movin pretty consistent prob mostly b/c of the free mobile hotspot. KIN will just be another option in VZW's lineup. Variety isn't a bad thing. The OS doesn't look too bad, but unfortunately...like the Palm's eggish design...the housing messes up what could be a decent phone. But yea...i think Android will still have hype for now...possibly even Blackberry. Btw Windows Phone 7...preorders start now, phones ship July 9, 2028...OS release is about as elusive as the Moto Droid 2.1 software upgrade episode. Gotta step it up WinMo

Considering what Verizon's phone lineup for smartphones was like prior to the DROID, these KINs will help. As for pricey plans, the 30.00 data requirement is no different than with AT&T. Of course, with an EVO 4g I can pay 69.99 wand get unl anymobile to anymobile calls/unl msg and data and 450 non-mobile minutes....

More teenagers would lean toward Android over this phone. Most of my friends would NEVER get this phone. I am getting the bold 9650 whenever it comes out, but if I wasn't getting a blackberry I would definitely get an Android phone. Especially over the kin one or kin two. It has good specs but Android phones just seem more promising.

Uhh how about its not that complicated? We've already mastered the network why not have the phone selection to match? Unlike some carriers Verizon doesn't just settle for average. Also, the Kin Phones will not be running Windows Mobile.
