Pixel and Pixel XL come with 24/7 tech support thanks to Care by Google

With the Pixel and Pixel XL phones announced today, Google is introducing a new service dubbed Care by Google.

Thanks to Care by Google, Pixel users will get "24/7 support" on their handset. That's tech support directly from Google, all day and all night. To make use of Care by Google, you'll have to go to the Settings app on your Pixel, then tap on the Support tab. From there, you have two options: ask for support by phone, or by chat. If needed, you will be able to easily share your device's screen with a Google expert for guided help, but only after accepting the “View screen share request” sent by the support agent. Of course, you don't need to do this in case you have privacy concerns of any kind.

We're not sure if Care by Google will be available in all countries where the Pixel and Pixel XL are going to be sold. But the feature will definitely work in the US, and probably also in the other markets where the Pixel phones are currently available to pre-order: Canada, UK, Germany, and Australia.

24/7 tech support via phone or chat is a rare thing, regardless of what device we'd be talking about, so we're glad to see Care by Google being released with the Pixel and Pixel XL. We just have to wait and see if this will work flawlessly.

The effects and changes of this departure is mixed bag; less attractive design, but even better user experience with 24/7 Care. Wow, time to refresh the Pixels!

About f**king time. Google customer support is the worst f**king thing Ive ever encountered. Ive lost a very important email address which was compromised all because their s**tty support team (if thats what you want to call it) thought it was okay to consistantly communicate with me through a robotic auto every god damned time.

We are just statistics and ad revenue for Google. They are too big for their own good.

You can say that about Apple, Microsoft, HTC, Huawei, and Samsung. You can say this about ZTE, and Alcatel. No companies give a damn about your well being as long as they can help get you out of the way quicker. Random individuals may be nice, but those Customer Service reps with incompatible grasp on English or automated services make it clear what they are after.

"Hello support. Can u help me? I'm not sure if I've bought a pixel phone or an iphone?" Tech support: "Look at the back of ur device, do u see the letter 'g' on it?"

This is exactly why I recommended this phone to my grandparents who are ready to give up on their flip phones over the iPhone 7. The 24/7 support can be a lifesaver for anyone who doesn't understand tech.
