Parking info is coming to Google Maps, now live for some users

3

Useful parking information is headed your way via Google Maps, numerous reports from users of the app's beta version claim. The new feature is present in Google Maps beta 9.44, although it is currently available to a limited number of users only.

Similarly to how Maps displays traffic conditions for your route of choice, the new parking info display shows the average parking spot availability near your destination. The information is marked by a round “P” icon at the top of the route pull-up menu, that serves to indicate three levels of parking spot availability — Limited, Medium, and Easy — by switching its color from red for Limited, to blue for both Medium and Easy.

The new feature is going live for beta users of Google Maps only, and for a limited number of them at that. It is currently unknown whether it will roll out on a region-by-region basis, or whether it will go live worldwide when it hits the stable version of Google Maps.
