OnePlus teams up with Otterbox to bring you ultimate protection

Otterbox is a famous smartphone case manufacturer, best known for its rugged protective designs. OnePlus has long been known to offer fitting accessories for its “flagship killers” straight from the store and it seems as it's ready to up its game even more!

Yes, cases for OnePlus flagships are nothing new, but, according to the company's presentation, the new series are developed in partnership with Otterbox themselves. We don't know how much that would affect the quality of the shell-style covers, which we've seen before, but we can see a brand-new Otterbox case in the gallery, too.

It's a rugged protector, which looks like it can take a beating and comes in two colors — Black or Racing Red, both of which will complement your OnePlus 5 just nicely (no matter which shade of phone you go for).

All the OnePlus 5 cases are currently marked as “Out of Stock”, though, we would hope they will become available when the phone launches officially, on the 27th of June.

So take a beautifully thin phone, and add 25%more bulk. Just make the phones more rugged to begin with. Take the HTC U11 for example. The back is made of glass, so unless you get a case, you risk cracking it like an iPhone. And why in the HELL would anyone want to hide that beautiful phone inside a case? HTC plans on making BANK on replacement backs!

The only advantage of keeping the phones thin and "requiring" a case is it gives the consumer better customization. The manufacturer can release the phone in fewer colors to save costs and time, then hundreds of case manufacturers offer unique cases for the individuals. Rugged phones do exist but usually with a niche market, considering not everyone wants an ugly S7 Active when they can buy a Gold S7 and put a clear case with Gold Accents on it
