OnePlus 5 to retain headphone jack with different position, Carl Pei reveals on Twitter

OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei is one amusing man. Bearing the username @getpeid, he often takes to Twitter to interact with fans of the brand, and some of the conversations that occur can get particularly intriguing, not to mention humorous, before a flagship release from the company.

Such was the case on May 19, when Pei received an interesting answer to his "What should I tweet about today?" post on the social media. One of his followers replied with "About where the headphone jack [of the OnePlus 5] went", prompting the director of OnePlus Global to react with the following cryptic message:

Thank God! Atleast it won't be a disappointment on the audio side even though I might not get it.

His follow up tweet suggests that gsmarena might have been assuming, so lets not get our hopes up yet.

Oneplus 5 will kill all the android flagships including Galaxy S8 this More and more competition is always a good thing for the consumer.

That's a nice dream. The One Plus 5 is pretty useless, typical, and extremely boring design wise One plus is sadly pathetic that's why nobody buys it.

I had the S4, S5 and now the S8+ The only phone that I would consider in 2017 are the Moto X (due to the 3800mAh battery, IP68 and AMOLED), maybe the XZ Premium if it can do 4K netflix but even that design is somewhat underwhelming. The U11 looks very boring, the edge sounds interesting in theory but the bezels and battery leave much to be desired. OP5 would've been nice but the lack of special features makes it a no go.

The S8 and S8plus definitely don't have nothing to worry about especially with the One Plus 5. As usual no carrier will carry it and as usual nobody will be buying it we go through the same comical act year after year. One Plus is nothing more than another boring, dull, uneventful Android handset that borders on a Pixel/Motorola/Nexus bandwagon

I wouldn't touch the OnePlus 5 but I will probably get a Pixel 2.

Headphone jack not a big deal anymore. But guess it's good to have.

You mean charging and playing music through your earphone isn't a big deal? Btw, why do oems not put 2 usb-c ports on phones, since they claim the 3.5 standard is old? Or are they now also trying to dictate how we charge and listen to music? *looking at you apple*

Glad not every oem is not following this stupid pointless trend.
