Next build of Windows 10 Technical Preview for phones to be launched this Friday
Last month, we told you that Microsoft was readying the release of a new build of Windows 10 Technical Preview for phones, which would bring the next-gen OS to more handsets. Now, we know when the new build should become available: according to Windows 10 Insider Program Chief Gabriel Aul, Microsoft is planning to launch the build this Friday, April 10.

As a reminder, Windows 10 Technical Preview is available only to members of the Windows Insider Program, but anyone can sign up and join for free.

In case you need a refresher, here's the huge list of Windows Phone devices that you'll be able to install the next build of Windows 10 Technical Preview on (hopefully starting Friday):

  • Microsoft Lumia 430
  • Microsoft Lumia 435 (dual SIM version included)
  • Nokia Lumia 520
  • Nokia Lumia 525
  • Nokia Lumia 526
  • Nokia Lumia 530 (dual SIM version included)
  • Microsoft Lumia 532 (dual SIM version included)
  • Microsoft Lumia 535 (dual SIM version included)
  • Nokia Lumia 620
  • Nokia Lumia 625
  • Nokia Lumia 630 (dual SIM version included)
  • Nokia Lumia 635
  • Nokia Lumia 636
  • Nokia Lumia 638
  • Microsoft Lumia 640 Dual SIM

Unfortunately for owners of the Nokia Lumia 930 and Lumia Icon, these two smartphones aren't on the list because of a bug that hasn't been fixed yet. But maybe they'll be included on the list for the next build.

I'll have to give it a whirl. I know it's risky putting on something that's not even a Beta on a daily driver, but there's always a backup phone warming up in the bullpen.

True, though right now my 1020 has a bug since the latest update, its very random but it will power off and on when the Bluetooth and wifi seem to have on/off trouble. If I use the ms/nokia tool to revert one back, it works, but something with that update hates my phone. So for me it wouldn't be much out of the norm. Sad cause this is the only lumia phone that has done this to me. Just started about a week ago for me. Ill be at work, but will be an instant install at the time it hits.

This is great for me. I came from Windows Phone after four years to the Sony Xperia Z3. I never sold my Lumia 920 unlike I did with my Lumia 1020. Android has been a really enjoyable ride so far with very few hiccups but I still miss WP. This gives me a chance to preview the upcoming Windows 10 as it develops and provide useful feedback to see if I will make the switch back to Windows this fall or continue on with Android.

I might give it a try myself on my Nokia lumia 928. it is interesting to notice that Microsoft now has 23 Nokia Lumia smart phones on the list and 5 Microsoft Lumia brand smart phones. since Nokia of Finland can start selling smart phones in 2016 under it's Own "Nokia" brand name Microsoft has to replace or rename 23 Nokia lumia windows 8.1 smart phones. I think folks Microsoft is going to stop making these 23 Nokia lumia smart phones but still support them and have new cases with the Windows logo on them like the one on the new Surface 3 tablet to house the electronics of the old Nokia Lumia smart phones Perhaps some of them Will get updates, some will be discontinued.
