New Motorola Droid seemingly coming soon, back panel leaks out
It seems that Motorola is currently pretty busy, as it's readying the launch of a few new smartphones, including a third-gen Moto G, and a so-called Moto X Sport. Today, another new Motorola handset that might be coming soon showed up, and, according to HelloMotoHK, it's a new "Droid" - which means it should be released by Verizon Wireless in the US.

HelloMotoHK posted an image that allegedly shows the back panel of said new Moto Droid. It appears that the device has a plastic (perhaps rubbery?) back with a geometrical pattern on it. We can also see a camera with what seems to be a hole for an LED flash beneath it. The overall design of this alleged new Droid resembles that of the recently leaked third-generation Moto G.

Unfortunately, there are no details on the features of the new Motorola Droid. We don't even know if it's a high-end device, or perhaps a mid-range one. In any case, the latest Droid to be officially released (the Motorola Droid Turbo) is soon going to be 1 year old, so we assume it won't be long before we hear more about the new model that showed up today.

Would you want Motorola to launch a new high-end Droid, or a mid-range one (maybe a Droid Mini successor)? Or both? Let us know in the comments!

So is this silver-colored elongated oval shape part of the new design language for Moto devices for 2015? This is the 3rd *leak* so far that has the exact same sort of rear. Not really a big fan of it, if I'm honest. Reminds me of when LG used to have those long rectangular silver parts on the rear of certain devices that said 'Google'.

It's not just Motorola, it's also on the One Plus Two. When the first Moto device image leaked, there was mentioned that it has some sort of functionality with Google Cardboard.

I thought that OnePlus Two leak was confirmed to be a photoshopped image of the Moto X 2015?

Oh??? Maybe you're right, I haven't been following it very closely because I'm not particularly interested in the device. If you find out for sure though, can you post the link?

I think Verizon owns the Droid brand of phones but it doesn't excuse Motorola putting out second rate devices while releasing devices like the Turbo.

yeah, any phone that has 1 GB of RAM and less than 1080p is definitely a low end device, Luckly Motorola acknowledges this with the low price point, anyone charging more than $200, let alone $800+ for such limited hardware have their head up their asses.

The Droid Turbo was an amazing device which nobody could buy unless they were a Verizon customer... basically means Motorola is not interested in selling these phones to everyone, or much at all. I'm looking forward to seeing how they continue to make bonehead business decisions in the future.

Unlike Scott up above talking out his rear end again this guy gets the point. Motorola makes some of the dumbest decisions.

I want a RAZR M successor. The Droid Mini was garbage. What happened to the metal body , kevlar backing, durable Moto phones? I want a decent 4.6-5.0in phone from Moto that isn't plastic and cheap

This is most likely a MOTO E or G series. Could be a pre-paid device. Who knows. But it sure doesn't look like a premium handset.

Just about none of the Motorola devices are premium handsets besides a couple like the Bionic.

Okay so Droids with Kevlar and Ballistic Nylon, plus X with unique wooden and leather finishes aren't premium. Nice story troll. GTFO.

You just don't get it do you, they will never be premium, no matter what material they're made out of, no matter how hardcore the specs, as long as it doesn't have the Apple logo on it, it'll never be premium. There you go, that's the inner workings of Mxyzptlk's shriveled mind.
