Netflix videos can now be viewed in HDR by Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL users
Unlike HDR on a smartphone camera, which merges together multiple exposures to produce a better image, Netflix uses the HDR title for something different. The video streamer considers HDR content to provides a more dynamic range of colors. For example, while watching such a video on Netflix you might notice brighter whites and darker blacks.

The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have yet to show up on the Netflix website under the list of smartphones that support its HDR videos. But Android Police says that just yesterday, some users of the 2018 Pixel phones started to notice the HDR label appearing on certain Netflix fare. The label is not appearing on all Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL handsets, indicating that the update is still in the process of being disseminated.

According to Netflix, to view HDR videos on a supported Android phone, users must have installed version 5.0 of the Netflix app or higher. A steady internet speed of 25Mbps is required, and streaming quality must be set on high. Lastly, subscribers need to have signed up to a four-screen Netflix plan.
