Motorola hosts Back To School sale, offers the Moto X 64GB for $374.99

Motorola hosts Back To School sale, offers the Moto X 64GB for $374.99
Not long after releasing a 64GB version of its Moto X smartphone, Motorola is now hosting a Back To School sale, which allows US customers to buy a Moto X 64GB for just $374.99 (down from the original $449.99 price). As it did many times in the past, Motorola also cut the price of the Moto X 16GB and Moto X 32GB, which now cost $299.99 and $324.99, respectively. These prices get you an unlocked Moto X that’s customizable via Moto Maker.

The Back To School sale runs until July 31, or “while quantities last.” The Moto G and Moto E are not included, but both are already quite cheap anyway.

While it’s definitely not the newest handset around, the Moto X remains a decent smartphone - one that’s among the first to receive the latest Android updates. Of course, we must mention that a successor to the Moto X, possibly called Moto X+1, might be announced and released in the near future. Still, if you want a Moto X now, for a lower price than it's usually being offered, visit the first source link below.

Not a very good deal. You can get other phones that offer more for about the same price. Software isn't a good example or excuse.

Please Mxy, tell us what "other phones" can one get for the same price off contract and unlocked? Inquiring minds want to know!

To start with I directed my comment at Mxy, I dont recall pulling your string apple4never but since you butted in then I have this to say: OnePlus one really? You can go to their website right now and buy one? Because I can buy a Moto X right now (WITHOUT SOME STUPID INVITE) and get it in the design (colors, accent color, back plate material) I want right now! Xaomi, yes some cheaply made Chinese handset that probably wont fully function on any single US carriers network and break with in a month. Oh and I am sure that Xaomi are also great with the phones being on the latest version of Android also. A phone can have super specs and a low price but when you cant buy it or you have to worry about the build quality and support then that cheaper price is not justified! Try again!

I agree on your OpO part, but with xiaomi you are half wrong. Xiaomi is doing a killer job, with flagship specs and a little over moto G price, the Mi4 is a breathe taking. But regarding your Xiaomi US statement I agree with you. Moto X is still a great phone. But they need a better plan this time.

I agree that Moto needs a better plan. From the rumors that are coming through (and I realize that they are just rumors) it seems that Moto may start really listening to their customer base. With regards to the comments above, I realize that the Moto X is a disappointment to most people who only look at specs but what no one who has ever used a it for an extended period of time can deny is how fluid the Moto X with what so many have deemed to be dated specs vs what other OEMs have done with the latest specs. I guess what it all boils down to is that I am tired of seeing the same people constantly bash a product when they have not used it and that is what the above people continue to do every article that is released on this phone.

Are you being sarcastic, because I would love to get one if it just to devote my time on the forum.

And an iPhone 5c OFF CONTRACT is $650 with a maximum storage of 32GB. So for a device with a smaller screen, half the storage capacity, and almost double the price, that's a similar deal. Again you are comparing full retail price to a subsidized price, and consider that a fair comparison?

28. Mxyzptlk unregistered

I'm not comparing anything. He mentioned the 5C not I.

And again you're still sidestepping the question. What other phones are off contract there that are a better value? Only 2 come to mind, the Nexus 5 and the One plus One. The Nexus 5 is around the same specs, with lower storage capacity. The One plus One is only available on an invite system, and there have been QC issues with some of the ones that have gotten into customer's hands. So which ones am I missing that are comparable to the 64GB X?

I'm not site stepping anything. I never make the claim although you can find the iphone 5 and 4S around the same price right now.

First, it's SIDE stepping, not site stepping. And second, you're comparing a 2 & 3 year old phone vs a 1 year old phone? OK then.

Okay, so how many other phones with that storage capacity, full retail price not subsidized through a contract, that is easily available, can you get?

Not really. The only decent phone in this price range is the Nexus 5, but that doesn't have 64 GB of storage. Everything else either has lesser specs or is from a company that isn't reliable with updates. At this price range, nothing beats the Moto X in terms of specs and software support except for the Nexus 5. Anything from Samsung, Apple, HTC, Sony, etc. in this price range is inferior.

Just make sure your craigslist phone has a replaceable battery.

I would take the moto X anyday over many of today's flagships. Good around phone with the most close to stock android experience plus early update.

Yup it's got it where it counts: smooth UI, really good call quality and volume, good external speaker quality and volume, battery life considering the size of display and battery pack, and last but not least a pretty strong antenna (going by the Verizon version I have). From what I hear it also seems to have water resistance coating like the Droid Razr line. Luckily I came across my Moto X for the same price through craigslist but I would have loved to buy one brand new.

Also in usual Motorola fashion I don't really have a need for a case. It provides a comfortable limited to non-slip grip and it seems to be built solid (I haven't dropped the phone but it feels like my Razr M, a phone that I have dropped/ fallen out of pocket quite a bit).

Don't worry you are not missing anything, the phone sux. Yes, I own one. After six months, is doing the typical Android stuff, freezing, lag, stutter, and random dialing.

Is that unlocked or do you need to choose a carrier? Either way, that's an amazing deal...
