T-Mobile to carry the Motorola Moto Z2 Force

Yesterday, when we showed you renders of the upcoming Motorola Moto Z2 Force, we told you that the handset might not be a Verizon exclusive. Now, Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) is confirming that the Z2 Force will be released on at least two major US carriers. More exactly, besides landing at Verizon, the Moto Z2 Force will also be launched by T-Mobile.

For now, details on timing and pricing are missing, but we assume we'll hear more about this in the coming months. What's probably a safe bet is that the new smartphone will be called Moto Z2 Force Droid Edition on Verizon, and simply Moto Z2 Force on T-Mobile.

Sprint may also offer the Z2 Force, but this hasn't been confirmed yet (though the fact that we can see the phone's logo on a yellow background does make us think that Sprint is indeed involved here).

Expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, the Moto Z2 Force allegedly sports a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, and largely resembles the Z Force from 2016. However, the presence of a 3.5mm headset jack, plus the redesigned fingerprint sensor and dual rear camera, do stand out as noticeable differences.

Assuming Motorola will announce the Moto Z2 Force one year after the original Z Force, the new phone should be officially unveiled in June. Well, we'll be waiting.

I'm not really interested in the handset, but this is Huge that a former Verizon Exclusive is heading towards T-Mobile. It's definitely a fine handset to join their ranks.

Wow, this exciting! Motorola hasn't had a flagship on T-Mobile in a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time. This may be another option. I was just thinking about my next flagship smartphone, and I was looking at the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, LG V30, Moto Z2 or Z2 Force, or the Nokia 9. However, I'm looking for Hi-Fi audio as well, and I don't recall the Moto Z having that. This is unless they may a reasonably priced Moto Mod (under $99), that includes such a feature. It'd be nice if it had a reasonably sized battery like the Moto Z Play as well.

I hope the camera is as flagship as the last Z Force but they really should have integrated the Moto Mod connector like they did with the first version instead of going the Moto Z Play route with such a disjuncted looking back (i don't like using the shell mods).

If it's bootloader unlocked, this could be a jump even from the S8+ I don't even have yet

That's one helluva camera bump. Not a huge deal to me, just expecting to hear a lot of grief about it...

The camera bump looks similar to last year's Moto Z and it aids in aligning the Moto Mods. They should have come up with something else if they wanted dual cam setup though. Hopefully they'll stick with using large (for a smartphone) high end sensors for the Z2 Force.

Don't confuse the Moto Z2 with the Moto Z2 Force. I keep seeing those names used interchangeably? Last year's lesser Moto Z was sold UNLOCKED after a period of time, whereas the Moto Z Force stayed a Verizon "exclusive". It's possible some of the carriers might get the Moto Z2, just not sure they will get the Moto Z2 Force.
