LG clocks up record smartphone sales and profit in the third quarter
The LG Mobile Communications Company, aka the folks that are behind the G3 flagship, moved the record-breaking for the company 16.8 million smartphones last quarter, which is a whopping 39% year-on-year increase, and 16% compared to the previous quarter. The mobile division clocked in $4.14 billion of revenue, with $163 million operating income, which are the highest numbers since 2009.

LG expects this momentum to continue, building on the success of the G and L series, despite the maniacal competition that is blooming in the industry right now. The company was the first to announce a dual-core and 3D-capable handsets, as well as the first brand-name maker to out a flagship with a Quad HD resolution display. It was also brave enough to rework its designs for more ergonomic usage, moving the lock and volume keys on the back, instead of following the sides tradition, so we are pretty hopeful that LG's momentum will continue indeed.

I like mine, but it is a really rushed device which sucks.... The digitizer problem, issues with the headphone jack and dual channel headphones/aux, cracking devices and screens pulling away at the edges, camera software compiles photos not very well, extremely hot when playing games, battery range can be significantly different between units and after any software upgrades (Went from 6 hours SoT to only 2.5 hours SoT), which leads to re-flashing the software until the battery comes back again.... It's really quite a sketchy phone, and I do regret buying one too.... We need the devs on XDA to release Bump! for kernels and roms so we can fix some of LG's problems on the inside. It's such a shame.

if that is widespread issue, expect LG to go down. sad, they are really beautiful tho, that's why i wait for many feedbacks before I buy a certain device...

only ppl that dont know how to use a android OS complains bout lags, the android customization have a little delay and the saturarion of the RAM are some aspects that can cause some annoying things when you force the phone to work like a horse. some ppls put their phones to work hard, filling it of useless apps that manage memory and other stuffs (Android have a native function that can manage very well the memory usage, so you dont need to fill with other apps) When you come complaing about these lags, take some attention on some other features that the manufacturers worked hard to put in their phones with the less lags possible to make them more useful and replacing some functions that we have only in notebooks/desktops. Some people just analyze a cellphone by saying that custom android phones are pieces of s**t, and dont see the hard work behind it.

Just favorable circumstances in Q3 , in Q4 they won't do all that well and a bunch of others will do much better. LG is dropping out of top 5 smartphone makers.

It is tiny compared to Samsung, who made about 20 times that much despite of a "weak" quarter. Apple made about 50 times that much. Just to show you the distance between the third most profitable vendor and top two. Vendors like HTC, Sony, Xiaomi etc do even worse.

Thats well n good. But this article is what I meant anytime someone brings up OEM's making WP vs Android. Where do ppl think most, if not all these sales came from? Even tho they are a distant 3rd...imagine if they wasnt doing Android and doing WP only....
