Honor has shipped 1 million Honor 9 units globally
Honor is one of those brands that originated from China, but its main focus is outside its home country. And while it may be fairly unknown to consumers in the US, it does have a somewhat solid foothold in Europe. The brand is known for its affordable flagship-speced devices, and pretty good build quality.

This holds true with its newest flagship too – the Honor 9. The phone features a stunning design, complete with high-end hardware and a dual-camera setup, yet its suggested retail price is only €450 ($512). While it's completely capable of rivaling a lot of flagship devices out there, it sells for almost half as less.

This is probably why it is enjoying pretty good reception by the general public, and Honor yesterday announced that it has shipped over 1 million Honor 9 units, less than a month after launching the headset. While that number might seem relatively low, compared to the five million the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ sold in their first weeks, it's a major success for Honor.

According to IDC, Huawei, Honor's parent company, held just 10% of the global smartphone market in Q1 of this year, and that included both Honor and Huawei-branded devices. Samsung, on the other hand, took the lion's share with 23.3%. The stark difference in global market share is illustration enough for the differences between the two companies.

While we have yet to review the Honor 9, we're confident it will be a pretty solid device if it's anything like its predecessor. So, we can only applaud Honor on its achievement and hope the company keeps growing.
