Hasbro's My3D viewer for the iPhone will be available on April 3rd
No 3-D display? No problem! The My3D system from Hasbro, the renowned toymaker, will turn your iPhone or iPod Touch into a 3D machine. My3D, which is expected to cost $35, will be available from Target on April 3rd, and other retailers starting in June.

My3D is like a modern version of their old ViewMaster device. It works by holding your iPhone or iPod Touch at the end, and making the display look 3-dimensional. Free stereoscopic apps are already available, such as My3D Presents (a demo app), My3D 360 Sharks, My3D Sector 17, My3D Teleport L.A., My3D Bubble Bolt, My3D Tunnel Pilot, and My3D Shatterstorm.

Hasbro is already working with Dreamworks, Sony, 20th Century Fox, and Warner Bros. to bring 3-D movie trailers to the My3D as well. Beyond movie trailers, we can expect a host of 3-D games to follow. My3D is compatible with the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch (3rd and 4th generations).

Good technology, bad premise.. Its nice to know that technology has come of age where 3D entertainment is now available on your phone. But, I just have one question? Why are you watching 3D tv or playing 3D games on your phone?!?!? Maybe it;s just me, but I think we're crossing over into the waters of we're doing too much. Honestly, an IPhone or a Droid or any other phone doesnt need anything 3D, at least to the point of needing to wear glasses and goggles to utilize it. That viewer thing is just ridiculous. And to anyone that would suggest that you can plug up your phone to a TV via HDMI and utlizie 3D that way - You need a 3D capable television to do that and if you can afford a 3D TV, you can also afford anything else needed to enjoy 3D entertainment. Its all about to go too far (if it hasnt already). Sure, its cool that smartphones can do more than make calls; but lets not forget that the purpose of the device is TO BE A PHONE; its ok to not be able to watch 3D movies or play 3D games on it. Its even ok to not have the option to do so.

I heartily agree. To me phones already do too much and people expect way to much. I don't think we should even be calling them phones anymore. They're like pocket communicators anymore. 3D to me is just the final straw. It's too much and, to me, too ridiculous. I mean phone screens aren't tremendous, even at 4 inches what fulfillment are you getting from watching a 3D film?

Galaxy tab or any of the galaxy phones or the new tablets are not 3D capable yet. What the hell are you talking about?
