HTC's update plans include Android 4.4.4 for HTC One (M8)
HTC has already announced that it will update the HTC One (M7) and HTC One (M8) to Android L, no longer than 90 days after Google drops off the final version of the OS. Now, XDA contributer and HTC insider Llabtoofer has posted a chart, showing which devices should be receiving updates in the future, and which HTC models have reached the end of the road.

The Android 4.4.3 update, along with some future tweaking of Sense 6.0, is confirmed for the HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7). But because Android 4.4.4 is pretty much a lightweight update, HTC might stop its plans for making Android 4.4.3 a separate update, and combine the two for both HTC One models. This could take place in the July-August period.

As for Android L, Llabtoofer sees all 2013 and 2014 models that are part of a line, receiving the update along with Sense 6.x. But since the OS requirements are unknown, he lists these handsets as undergoing an evaluation. Remember, the HTC Advantage program promises Android software updates for a new HTC device for two years after the model is released.

Keep in mind that the chart made by Llabtoofer is not official, nor is it final. But it does look like the end of the line for the HTC One X range, and the Verizon exclusive HTC DROID DNA.

Thanks for the tip!

Look to see HTC stepping up the game. I remember their device to be under juiced. Always underestimate their device battery consumption. Hope that has changed.

Battery life kind of sucks on my M8 even with power saving mode on. Some days I have to charge it to 100% twice. Never happened with my S5.

Sad to hear that. I use their HTC Desire HD and HTC sensation to form this conclusion. Korean Samsung battery is higher quality. Even Apple has grown to rely on it. I have put both expensive and cheap third parties battery but proven Samsung originals battery is still the best.

My m8 battery is awesome. You prob don't even have an m8 #samsheep. M8 bashing needs to end. Its camera is awesome also. Megapixels doesn't mean quality.

That's really weird smurf. My battery life is my favorite feature of the phone. Even beats my note 3. I got 7 hours screen on time the other day. Looks like you have a defective model.

My Note 3 lasted me two days on a single charge and my S5 survived 9 hours of on screen time. My M8 struggles with only three, which really blows. Everything about this phone (except the damn radios, which performs a hell lot worse than the S5's) is top notch. I'll call HTC because this is seriously frustrating.

I keep my phone battery under close monitor. Disable Apps access to location information. Only allow if I want to use map related app otherwise non related app also ping for location information that quickly kill the battery. Another app I use is clean master, enable the tool bar to access recent apps to kill it follow by boost to remove them from memory. This routine before i turn off the screen allow me to use my phone the whole day with 70% battery life remaining from 8am to 9pm.

I'm way ahead of you with this. I disable GPS, even for the weather widget, unless I really need it. Power Saving Mode on all day, brightness down completely, and use WiFi when I'm at home. Still the battery sucks. If I turn off PSM, the battery drains a percent each minute. What?

Maybe your battery was "not fully trained" when you first got it. I had a problem before that my battery was already 90% after 15 minutes of getting a full charge. But after discharging at 0% and charging it fully a few times I would see my phone lasting me at most a day or two. But yeah turning off psm would drain your battery drastically.

I'll letting die today, turn it off, charge it to 100% and then see if it gets better within the next few days. If it doesn't I'm calling HTC because it's making me want to switch back to the S5.

Get a replacement because that's definitely defective. I've been through a few m8s and one of them had horrible battery life, like that. On gsm battery my average life is 5.5 hours screen on time.

It sounds like your phone is broken. The battery life is my absolute favorite part. I can't speak for the S5, but this One m8 phone is absolutely amazing. I can get between a day and a day and a half on a single charge, two if I am not using it much. You may need to contact your provider or HTC about getting replacing your defective model. (I will admit, the one thing I don't like, though, is that it can get a little warm due to being a full metal phone. Still, small price to pay for having such an amazing phone.)

Sony is doing a great job, recently. I like how the android L use the triangle, circle, square it, reminds me of the playstation ;-)

Because OEMs tend to not update their flagships to the minor updates Google pushes to the Nexus line (4.2.1, 4.3.1, 4.4.3, 4.4.2).
