Google is making a real push to populate the Play Store with tablet-optimized apps, as that's an area where Apple's iPad franchise is light years ahead, despite the proliferation of cheap Android tabs.

It just issued new tablet app guidelines and screenshots uploading update on its blog, detailing what Mountain View has done to help developers stand out with their slate application.

They can now upload to the Google Play Developer Console a number of app screenshots that are tailored to 7" and 10" tablets. Thus, when you examine the app in the Play Store from the comfort of your Android tab, it will be shown as it will look on your screen size, so you can gauge the true visuals before downloading or purchasing. There are also a bunch of new tips on tablet screen optimizations and requirements, so Google seems to be getting serious about its tablet game now.
