Dell Streak is priced at £429 ($622)
The Apple iPad surely has the market all to itself for right now as we've seen them report some stellar sales a couple of days ago. However, their tight grasp in the tablet market may soon be challenged by Google's upcoming army of Android powered devices looking to creep up on the venerable iPad that's been making some waves since its launch. The Dell Streak could potentially start up the war for Android as it has been revealed to sport a £429 ($622) price point with its relatively more compact dimensions. The sleek looking device may not be as large as the iPad, but it boasts some equally impressive specs such as a 5” touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, Wi-Fi, GPS, HDMI output, and 3G connectivity. Sure it may not be packing the latest build of Android, but it's customized interface running on top of Android 1.6 will surely please users until it receives the Android 2.2 Froyo update. We'll see if the Dell Streak can manage to gain some ground on the iPad as it catapults Android into the tablet arena.

I was seriously thinking of buying this beast and using a Bluetooth more often BUT the lack of portriat mode has murder all interest in it.

5", why in heaven or hell would one buy this tiny tablet when there is a phone out in a few days that is barely smaller? Android should learn from windows and establish standards so that crap does not get associated with their name. 5"-they should call it the Dell thumb print machine; 5"?

Because 5" is a happy medium between waaay too big (iPad) and another cell phone. It is still easily transportable. You can still comfortably watch movies and or play games. I don't like the 1.6 though. But I plan on getting one. I know it'll get an update. Everything android gets an update 'cept the Dream and the community is working on that as well...

Yea you can get the htc evo 4g for like 600 unlocked and that's only .7 inches smaller, so this is pointless.

Adding .7 inches for $22 would actually be a good tradeoff if you ask me. I'm gonna have a hard time finding a way to carry around this 5" beast, I don't think it will fit in my pants pockets. I wonder if it will look strange when holding it up to my head, lol.
