Cancelled Microsoft Band 3 prototype photos leak

2comments

Microsoft discontinued its Band 2 wearable and announced it had no immediate plans for a follow up. But now, purported photos of a Band 3 prototype were leaked by a company insider.

They show a familiar design while the user stated that the wearable is waterproof, tracks blood pressure with a built-in EKG, and includes radio frequency identification (RFID) support. The picture where the wearable's display is visible shows a swim tile, hinting towards its ability to track swimming sessions.

The insider also says that Microsoft has halted work on the Band devices, but the ideas it had developed for the wearables could be implemented in upcoming products. Alas, it doesn't look like we'll be seeing a follow-up to the discontinued Band 2 anytime soon.
