Barack Obama says Steve Jobs is a symbol of the American Dream

Barack Obama says Steve Jobs is a symbol of the American Dream
Barack Obama has reserved some special praise for Steve Jobs, citing him as an example of the American Dream and someone who Americans should "expect to be rich". Here are the exact words of the American president concerning Apple's CEO:

"And something that's always been the greatest strength of America is a thriving, booming middle class, where everybody has got a shot at the American dream. And that should be our goal. That should be what we're focused on. How are we creating opportunity for everybody? So that we celebrate wealth. We celebrate somebody like a Steve Jobs, who has created two or three different revolutionary products. We expect that person to be rich, and that's a good thing. We want that incentive. That's part of the free market."

Just to remind you that recently Steve Jobs was declared "CEO of the decade" by MarketWatch and likened to Edison and Bell. What's your opinion, though - do you see Jobs as a role model to follow or the American president's words are "a little bit meh", as some people like to say.

The past decade has been a remarkably successful decade for Apple and it has already overtook Microsoft, to become world’s largest technology . You can also viewhttp://www.dotcominfoway.com/blog/obama-sees-steve-jobs-as-an-example-of-american-dream

Mr. President said, "That should be what we're focused on. How are we creating opportunity for everybody?" And he mentions a guy that when presented an opportunity to help others through philanthropy, he refused? Yea fine, he helped bring back a flailing company, but more than that, he has an opportunity to give back to people and chose NOT to. The President should have mentioned Mark Zuckerburg! Another regular guy, that is practically connecting the world and when asked to join the Billionaire Group headed by Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett for Philanthropy, he said, "Yes".

Listen for any of you to get on a website and down talk our very own president is disgraceful. Me personally was never a big fan of bush but he was still our president at that time so I had the upmost respect for him. As far as the comment on Steve Jobs that's an opinion and as americans we all have the right to that. Why not tax the higher class more. Really how many of us make more then 250,000 anyway. It would make more sense considering that being that its a larger number, that's a higher gross amount of taxes from one person that is way better off anyways then say someone that makes 40,000 a year or even 60,000 a year. If I'm making 250,000 a year, paying taxes wouldn't make me or brake me. Give respect to your president because we the people voted for him in the first place. He came in with the economy a mess and at his attempts to fix it this is what we are left with, but don't change takes time so what more can we do but wait.

Obama actually turned out a pretty average guy, to my surprise. I voted for him, but he is a man of compromise, not the type of guy that would pound on the table and demand a profound change. He got played by the likes of Larry Summers, Dodd, etc., I'm not even bringing the Fed into that equation, they are accountable to noone. To be honest, US never intends to repay that debt, that's clear. Bernanke is exporting inflation to China, and the bubble there will burst pretty soon. We'll just whine and beg, and threaten, and get out of it in a decade or so. Honestly, the machine was in motion long before he took office, McCain/Palin would have gone Keynesian as well (without the health care reform), since that's the only way big finance could survive, and they hedge their bets giving money to each candidate. What Obama DID, though, and everyone seems to be forgetting that, is that he is a BLACK guy who became PRESIDENT of the USA. That feat alone was worth his term, the economy would have been in the doldrums with everyone else at the helm, too, except maybe Ron Paul, who I admire, but is not TV-likeable enough, and too old to be a president. So, yeah, he fulfilled the American Dream, and is giving credit where credit is due. Steve Jobs was down and out for a long time, but came back to prove that if you listen closely to what people actually want - a hint of harmony, symbiosis between form and function, they will reward you with taking your company up to the second largest in stock valuation, solely based on faith and trust you will deliver. Merry Christman, Phoneareners :-) PS I got a Galaxy Tab for Xmas, but honestly it's way overhyped that it offers more than the iPad - good that I'm a geek, hehe

Yes, they would have went keynesian. Thats a good thing. Keynesian economics has actually been proven to work. Demand side has never worked. Its a failed economic strategy. There are many reasons why politicians continue to use demand side though. One of them being, it buys votes.

bush and obama are both symptoms and the conciquence of idiots of america voting. people no longer pay attention to what is actually going on and prefer headlines and slogans to actual knowledge. If people actually paid attention bush, obama, pelosi, reid, mccain, clinton(s), and many more would have ever gotten elected. 80% of people that voted for obama had no idea who he was or what his actual stances on anything were. heck, even howard stern (a staunch liberal) was making fun of people for how little they knew but were going to vote obama.. just because.

I wish people like you would just learn to shut the hell up. The public does not really know the truth about what's happening in the government unless you actually were on top of it first hand. There are so many stories, speculations, theories, etc on how things happen in government affairs. Who's behind the assasination of Kennedy? Did Marilyn Monro really commit suicide? Who's behind the 9/11 tragedy? What's the real reason why we went into war? There are many, many different stories that are believed to be true regarding these major events in American history. Take a pick. As far as I know, most of them aren't really true. There's always more than meets the eye when it comes to government affairs. I say, as a citizen, just be a good one. Respect whoever the leader is, and give him or her a chance to do their work. Do your part as a citizen by supporting their platforms to try to make it work so we can all move forward and get out of this ugly economic crisis. That is where prayer and faith becomes an integral part of our nation. That He will continue to bless the US and give our leaders the wisdom to rule.

People like me? Lol who is that.. An informed and involved voter? Shameful, I know. What does your religious rant have to do with my post? Some of us are conservative yet not religious. Your answer can be broken down to "i close my eyes to reality and pray to an invisible being to fix it because I don't want to make the effort myself." Conspiracy theorists make me laugh. You can't tell the difference between hollywood and reality.

It doesn't matter whether your are an informed and involved voter or not. You have to respect whoever the majority voted as President. The US is a Christian nation, although you do not have to be one. Just because you do not see God, it does not mean He does not exist. You do not see the air either, yet you know that you breathe it.

sorry smpdx I have a career not a day job. As I stated, was it Obama who ran this country into the dumps? If Obama has the lowest approval rating, then Bush must not have been rated. Remember 9/11 happened under his watch! I'll take my chances with Obama. I support him just like I supported every president i've lived under, no matter how crappy a job they did!

hey tre nitty, u do realize that bush has carried a higher aproval rating than obama almost the entire time (exept for right after the election). 9/11 happened because bill clinton was given osama bin laden 3 seperate times on a platter and refused to have him extradited to prosecute him for the bombing of the USS Cole and US embasies, because he was too busy bombing asprin factories in iraq to get the news to stop covering the monica lewinsky affair. if you think that Bush knowingly let 9/11 happen for some sort of oil conspiracy your a total moron. BTW, the economy took a crap after 2006. after liberals took power of the house n senate. Bush gets the blame for signing bad bills for sure, but it was Pelosi, Reid, and Dodd that wrote the housing bill and TARP that brought the economy to its knees. Obama has quadrupled the national deficit in 2 years. A deficit that took over 200 years to get to the level he took it over at. "Hey we got no job and were out of money, what should we do? Lets charge up 4x more than we have aready on the credit card! That will help us get jobs!!" --- Obama/Pelosi thinking. " No, you cut government spending, government programs, cut taxes to spurr growth and development and DONT bail out companies with borrowed money from china with high interest rates. No company is too big to fail. And no company has a right to tax dollars as income.

He has the lowest approval rating to date. God tre-nitty, you really need to open your freakin eyes. Even Obamas own party is starting to break ranks. And he barely finished up his first two years. At this time during bushes term, he was WAY up on the approval rating. Obama is currently negative. Tre-nitty, you are a fool if you support a president just because of his title.:Like I said before. I dont respect presidents that believe in demand side economics. Not including the fact that he also believes in MANY other things I disagree with, but that for me is very important.

to date as in "the current point in his term". Sorry, its 3am and I am sooooo very tired of people. Not just you though tre-nitty. You are worth getting worried over. And actually yes,,, it was Obama who ran this country into the dumps. Who is president right now??? And how is our country doing right now??? Hmmmm....
