Apple's new iPhones top the sales charts and Google searches

Apple's iPhone 8 and iPhone X are the second and third most searched terms for 2017, announced Google in its traditional yearly recap. The ranking defaults to global, but you can also zoom in to specific countries to see what was searched most in your neck of the woods. Those two top the most sought after words in the Consumer Tech category (duh), followed by the Nintendo Switch and the Samsung Galaxy S8.

In addition, market intelligence firm Counterpoint released their latest available data for the most sold phones globally, which is for the month of October, so the iPhone X is not present in it, but, according to other reports, its uptake has surpassed that of the iPhone 8 or 8 Plus by now.

Counterpoint lists the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus as the world's most popular smartphones in terms of sales for that month, followed by Samsung's big-screen Note 8 and S8+ phones. Out of the top 10 most sought-after phones in October globally, seven are Samsung or Apple handsets, with three Chinese makers - Vivo, Oppo and Xiaomi - rounding up the ranks.
