Apple's new iPhones top the sales charts and Google searches

Apple's iPhone 8 and iPhone X are the second and third most searched terms for 2017, announced Google in its traditional yearly recap. The ranking defaults to global, but you can also zoom in to specific countries to see what was searched most in your neck of the woods. Those two top the most sought after words in the Consumer Tech category (duh), followed by the Nintendo Switch and the Samsung Galaxy S8.

In addition, market intelligence firm Counterpoint released their latest available data for the most sold phones globally, which is for the month of October, so the iPhone X is not present in it, but, according to other reports, its uptake has surpassed that of the iPhone 8 or 8 Plus by now.

Counterpoint lists the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus as the world's most popular smartphones in terms of sales for that month, followed by Samsung's big-screen Note 8 and S8+ phones. Out of the top 10 most sought-after phones in October globally, seven are Samsung or Apple handsets, with three Chinese makers - Vivo, Oppo and Xiaomi - rounding up the ranks.

Did you even read the article or view the bar chart? "which is for the month of October, so the iPhone X is not present in it" And show us where exactly is the iPhone X in the chart? All they mentioned was a report stating that it's uptake has surpassed the iPhone 8 duo. Also here come the "Apple people are controlled husks" and only smart people use "Android" crowd. In another thread Sassy stated that there are people who have different needs and tastes and some prefer TouchWiz and its features and don't care about updates and thus its wrong to throw insult at others.. She's right but lets see how the "Android" crowd deals with people that prefer Apple's eco system.

Android users don't care that you prefer Apple eco-system. They get pissed when you make exaggerated claims of iOS and bash Android at every turn. Then when given a taste of your own medicine, you resort to name calling and bashing even more. Android users don't dislike iOS, just as Windows users don't dislike OSX. They simply use what works best. They do hate the pompus elitist snarky attitudes of Apple users and that's the breaking point of the rest of us. You guys don't know how to enjoy what you like, without attacking others to make what you have seem better; when it factually isn't.

LOL the dude literally wrote the exact thing the 'fandroids' and Samsung fans spew out at Apple and it's users. Absolutely incredible how the hypocrisy exists in clear site.

I think its sad, because it the truth, no matter the side you are on. I like both products. I watch people criticize the iPhone X. I bought it, I liked it. I only didn't keep it mostly because half my apps require dev updates to work. I kept opening old games I've had since iOS 7 and they have a bubble that says this application won't work until dev updates it. Considering that in the Philippines we have to pay the phone costly upfront, $1200 is a lot to pay for something that doesn't work as I need it too. The phone is beautiful. I had the silver one and I like it alot. I also like my Note 8. They both have +/-, but not on the same level as they can't because they were made by a different .company. You guys sound like home team fans. You think because you like your local team, you have to hate the other team who plays the same sport. Why? There is something to love and no love about everything. The problem with fans is, blind to a side. The best is to be platform agnostic and you wont have to have favoritism debates. Because anything you say about one, is present on yours too. Which makes a debate pointless.

First of all, I'm a huge Android fan, go through my posts, I praise stock Android so much it's ridiculous people even try to label me a "Apple sheep". I have far more Android devices than Apple and actually hate iOS myself, but most of my family and friends are on iOS and it just makes life a lot easier to FaceTime and iMessage everyone. Second, have you not seen the insane amount of insults the fandroids and Samsung fans spew at apple users? Downright insulting them just for using a specific Os, so where's all that mumbo jumbo of tasting your own medicine, snarky attitudes remark for them? Anyone that's been on phone arena for a few days can blatantly see the ridiculous amounts of hate the fandroids and Samsung fans comment on here. Third, both OS's have their advantages and disadvantages, anyone on iOS will easily give you a dozen things that are annoying like not being able to set default apps, change the themes etc.. They exist and are obvious, however conversely iOS has major advantages like a soild all round eco system, a superior communications platform and updates! But Samsung fans, oh wow they are so insecure that they'd rather die arguing then admit the "great Samsung" has any faults and that any missing features like not getting updates on time are redundant and no one cares about them. Yea sure buddy, it's the Apple fans that are the problem eh? Ironic you speak of attitude when it's the Samsung fans that think for themselves as some sort of saviour of humanity just because they use a mobile OS LMAO. I honestly don't care at all about who's winning what, who's got the best market share etc. I love stock Android and just look forward to the Pixel phones every year and enjoy them regardless of how much profit or market share whoever is gaining. However calling out the insecure Samsung fans hypocrisy and watching them squeal as Apple destroys them without fail year after year... Now that's just entertainment LOLOLOL. Also I love windows and hate MacOS that stuff is garbage.

So you prefer stock Android over skinned option like Smasung. OK fine. But why attck Samsung option because you don't like it. I'm the opposite of you. I prefer Samsung Android over Stock. I use to like HTC Sense. I use to like Moto Blur. I would never buy a stock Android device. If I did, I'd rather just get an iOS device, because I don't see them as any different. Using a page from Apple fans, stock Android phones don't outsell other "skinned"options. But that doesn't mean skinned options are always better. Samsung is better at offering features. LG isn't. Their displays suck and their phones are just boring. I agree all have +/-, so why attack one for its disadvantages when your has disadvantages? Everyone who use a Samsung phone is not a fan. But I think equally, no one likes bad things said about what they use. All fans are insecure.Because what they say bad about one, is also bad about them. Thus lies the issue.

Apple haters are everywhere, this like a virus......lol Android has the opportunity to make the best smartphone ever and surpass Apple's iPhone but nobody has been able to do it still. Samsung came so close to Apple just because they copied almost everything in the iPhone from the beginning and made up a name for a fake iPhone market. Thanks to Apple Smartphone became a thing and still prevails as a major part of people's lives.

Android already has the best smartphones ever. Just because they don't outsell Apple doesn't mean they aren't better. Again that is the problem with Android haters. Ferrari's don't outsell Toyota. Right? Here in the Philippines, Toyota like in the US is a top selling brand because they have more affordable offering. But Audi owners here don't care, because they buy what they like. They don't care what Toyota sells. Bragging about things that are obvious and don't matter. Samsung sells 300M+ phone each year period. Which means you mentioning of sales don't matter because it still less than someone. If Samsung only sold the Galaxy S, and they made 3 versions so they have a cheap option, a mid-ranged option and a premium option, they would still sell more phones than Apple. In fact they would sell twice as many.

Just keep in mind that for 9 months people searched "iphone 8" when they were actually looking for what would eventually be iPhone X

That's a smart and fair observation, however they were searching for the next generation of iPhones and both the 8 Duo and X are just that. So it kind of works out.

Everyone knows iPhone are the most buggy smartphones with highest failure rate..... So it's safe to say..... MOST OF THOSE SEARCH WERE MADE TO SOLVE IPHONES BUGS AND OTHER FAILURES.

Yeah because no android phone has ever had issues and is perfect 100 percent if the time....post a relevant source to your failure rate claim

No one said Android phones were perfect. I have never read a post from any Android user that said Android phones were perfect. So why even word your post that way? However it is a fact that the iPhone 6/6S devices have the highest failure rate in the industry. In fact both models, surpassed all of Samsung's models combined. Samsung's higest failing device the S6 had a 7% failure rate. Which means their cheap $100 are better than the iPhone on this level. PA posted that article.. Try not to act like you didn't read it. Apple has constant updates do to issue, not giving you new features.

Pay attention if you follow google source link and go on the search charts if you want to try other countries alone. I don't know how and what algorithm they use for "global" search results but the actual countries alone search tells the different story: In UK only X and is at the bottom. In US there is NO RESULTS AT ALL FOR ANY IPHONE IN TOP 10. Mexico only has X model in 6th place. Canada 8 model sitting in 9th. India with NONE at all. Australia does somewhat promising 8 at 6th and X at 9 Israel result are not translated to English so we leave it with them Poland has NONE. Any curious person would ask: so how come that anything that Tops "global searches" are far from top 5 in the top 10 or out of top 10 at all? Including India and US that has NONE entries in TOP 10?
