Apple iPhone 6 Plus unboxing

Apple iPhone 6 Plus unboxing
Apple is definitely entering new space with its just launched iPhone 6 Plus. Yes, it’s undeniably the bigger sibling to the iPhone 6, but the more pressing matter is whether or not it can contend with the other sluggers in the phablet space. Samsung has clearly taken the segment by storm with its line of top-notch Galaxy Note smartphones, where two more will be making their debuts this fall – so Apple need to be on its best to attempt to knock off the prized series from its pedestal. Lucky for us, we just got in our review unit, so we’re going to take a quick look at the phone.

The packaging, much like all other iPhones before it, hasn’t changed much at all. Obviously, the box itself is the biggest we’ve seen from the popular iPhone line. The front of the box is adorned with an image of the intriguing phablet, while the rear simply gives us some insight to the handset and the included goodies with the packaging. Opening it for the first time, our eyes are first greeted to the gigantic sized smartphone – and boy is it BIG! Not surprisingly, it’s packaged along with all of the accessories we’ve come to expect to arrive with an iPhone. Therefore, they include the lightning docking cable, wall charger, earpods, and those Apple logo decals.

One of the first feelings we have holding the new iPhone 6 Plus is just how massive of an iPhone it really is. Prior to this, we thought there was a fair amount of substance moving from the iPhone 4S to the 5, but this takes it to a whole entire new level. Now that we’re moving from an iPhone 5s to the 6 Plus, the difference in size is significantly more substantial. Gone is the easy-to-hold nature of the iPhone 5s, replaced instead by something that requires two hands for normal interaction with the phone. Needless to say, the size of the iPhone 6 Plus is its most notable characteristic, but it’s just nice to know that it continues to be one solidly constructed thing – thanks in part to its unibody brushed aluminum chassis.

Along with the large footprint, the iPhone 6 Plus also stands out for its massive 5.5-inch 1080 x 1920 Retina Display – the biggest and highest resolution screen to ever grace the iPhone. As much as we want to talk a lot about its attractive elements, we’ll dish out our reservations once we’re able to experience its true scope. Hardware-wise, the phone is treated to the usual array of improvements over last year’s iPhone 5s. Many long time iPhone owners have clamored for an iPhone with a significantly larger display, so it’s finally nice to see Apple give what the people asked for. We’ll be putting the iPhone 6 Plus through a bunch of test to see if it’s a reputable phablet that can tangle with some of the greats that exist in the space at this time.

In the meantime, however, don’t forget to check out our quick unboxing and hands-on video below to get a good glimpse at this beast of an iPhone. Expect our in-depth review soon!

Don't you mean siLiCone?? I'm glad you got it in red, though, it should really add some savoir faire to your, otherwise, boringly dull appearance. Is the wifey also getting one, you know that Front Facing Camera can only enhance so much and, iDoubt, it has Samsung's Beauty Shot software on it!

It was to be expect as many reviews of the Iphone 6+ has been saying it lasts longer than the smaller phone (well it does have a larger battery even considering its display size). My brother's iPhone 6 4.7" model is also doing really well with the battery life so far. Not as good as the Galaxy S5, One M8 , Xperia Z2 or LG G3 but it lasts longer than his old iPhone 5s despite the larger screen.

Yup. Apple made big mistake to omit this display and OIS on the basic iPhone 6. As we know the izombies like to have the best iPhone possible. Most of them will buy this huge brick (8mm bigger than Note 3) and then they will swear

"Apple made big mistake to omit this display and OIS on the basic iPhone 6." After using both models, I was thinking this same thing. The iPhone 6 could have been a much better phone with OIS, a 1080p screen, a curved back, and a bigger battery. Basically Apple should have done a better job copying the HTC One M8.

The 6 will sell about 150x more than the M8. Apple did a good job with it, shoulda been a 5. incher though.
