Android 2.1 coming to the HTC Hero in mid-March?
All HTC devices offering the Sense UI really has to thank one specific handset that may have gotten lost in all the hype surrounding the latest Android phones. The original HTC Hero is still sitting on Cupcake and may soon get retrofitted with the latest Android 2.1 update. Although there are ways to get around on having the latest platform on the handset, such as installing a custom or leaked ROM, there are some owners out there that prefer the old fashion way – waiting patiently until HTC decides to make it available. Luckily for those who have held onto the original starter of the Sense UI, there is news regarding Android 2.1 making an appearance with Sense in “mid March” according to HTC's Benelux team. Always attempting to make itself unique from others, it'll feature a new Friend Stream widget that pushes user updates across various services, tweaked Exchange support, and a mix of other goodies. Still it isn't clear as to when other Hero versions, like Sprint's, will see the light of this update – it'd be a great idea if Sprint were to go through with it.
