All New HTC One (M8) to have a Google Play Edition and funky flip covers

Just in case you don’t like HTC’s Sense UI, the company is allegedly preparing a Google Play Edition of its yet to be announced All New HTC One (codenamed M8). That’s what @evleaks says, reminding us that the 2013 One also has a Google Play Edition.

There is no word on when the All New HTC One GPE will be released. Anyhow, we’re hearing that the regular version of the handset - the one with Sense 6.0 UI on top of Android KitKat - could be available to purchase as soon as early April.

Alongside the detail about the Google Play Edition, @evleaks revealed an image that seemingly shows a brand new flip cover for the HTC M8. The cover - seen on the left - appears to use OLED technology to display time, weather information, and probably also various notifications. This cover will most likely cost extra, as it’s hard to believe that HTC will include it in the standard All New One package.

HTC will finally announce the new One on March 25. The smartphone should be widely available around the world. In the US, all major carriers are reportedly getting ready to offer it. We haven’t heard anything regarding the price of the new HTC flagship smartphone, but we’re assuming it won’t cost more than the 2013 model.
