AccuBattery is a battery life monitor on steroids, helps you get longer life out of your battery

Battery life is probably the most common concern for smartphone users: some are finding it hard to get through a full day on a single charge, others find that after a year or so of use, their battery drains much faster than before, and the issues just keep lining up.

AccuBattery is a relatively new battery life monitor for Android devices (it supports the latest Samsung Galaxy S7s, Google Pixels, and so on) that focuses on accurate battery stats, but also on a research-based suggestion to avoid fully charging your battery.

Full charges usually put extra strain on the battery and are likely to result in quicker depletion of its capacity. We have seen Sony do something similar to prolong battery longevity on its latest Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact: it automatically pauses the charge of the phone to avoid the stressful charging and trickle charging at night.

AccuBattery suggests that you actually charge your battery to 80% and comes with clever tools to let you know when you've reached that level, so that you can unplug. This way, you can get the full 500 cycles out of your battery, until you start to see a noticeable drop in battery life.

But it's also about the stats: screen-on time, averages, and expectations, AccuBattery is a comprehensive battery monitor that we recommend you take a look at right below.

This is not meant to optimize battery life, it's just a battery monitor that gives you better battery stats.

Strange! Google Play Store says AccuBattery isn't compatible with my Galaxy S5 with 6.0.1 but is happy on my Tab S10.5 with 6.0.1 but says it was designed for phones.

Hmm, I don't know about stopping at 80% but this is an interesting app for sure.

The more you charge your battery the more you stress it. Charging a battery up to 70-80% is ideal and not letting it drop bellow around 25% is also idea. Thats if you want a great healthy battery for 2 years at least. The typical usage of most people f**k the battery in the first year.

I also found the research behind the less than 80% charge interesting. We'll be doing more testing with the app. Martin, just one more thing, it seems that dropping below 25% is not really a problem, according to the research quoted by this app's creator.

They must have read the million word research article posted by battery university a while back. They did extensive testing of battery charge and discharge cycles and last it all out. If you have a few hours to read it here ya go.

If you wanna unplug charger at 80% then any app with "Charge alarm" option will do. (Only hardware-device can "stop" charging battery automatically)

pic.2 average battery usage screen off 3.3%/hour something really wrong with that smartphone, that's like losing 25% battery life when you sleep overnight, lol.. I'll try it just for my curiosity :D

How much different is this than Better Battery Stats, minus the 80% charge reminder?

Interesting. I might have to give this a try. My 6P normally lasts me throughout the day. On a full charge.

I have been having this never ending argument since the dawn of cordless drills! The No.1 enemy of any rechargeable battery, ANY TYPE, is the heat generated internally during the recharging cycle!! I won't get into the chemistry of this, but every battery manufacturer on the planet has made a fortune off the Mooks who plug in their phones every night when they get home! This is the first app to apply this basic fact of physics to an easily used program. People...It's HEAT!!!!!
