7 hidden features of the iPhone's 3D Touch

The iPhone's 3D Touch wasn't really a head-turner when it first launched with the 6s — it was only supported by a few of Apple's stock apps, the functions it gave access to were a bit limited and bare bones, and it mostly did nothing on the home screen.

Now, a year after its initial release, 3D Touch has made its way in numerous 3rd party apps and it also has a more prominent place in iOS 10, unlocking various options throughout the phone's interface. However, we feel like a lot of 3D Touch's functions are underexposed and probably unknown to the wide userbase.

So, we thought we'd list a few of the less obvious things you can do with 3D touch. This is for iOS' interface only, as 3rd party apps are, well... a lot. And each one of them may or may not treat the pressure-sensitive feature in their own unique way.

An overall great phone, can't lie, but I need more than it can offer at the moment. S8 Edge, or Note 8 for sure in 2017. I hope Apple gives me what I want, we'll see.

I'm tipping the Galaxy S8E to be the phone of the year imo.. Trust samsung to let all hell loose on that one. My only grouse is that I'm afraid they might increase the screen size which might make the phone a little bigger. The GS8E and Iphone 8 will own the year imo.. Except microsoft pulls a rat out of the hat with the surface phone, I don't see any manufacturer competing with dem sharks. My only problem is which to choose tbh, but I'm guessing sammy will own the design and camera game because they already have a leg up on apple on the design front. While I know this might sound crazy but my guts tells me samsung will incorporate a touch bar like alternative even before the iphone.

Normally I buy the Note and iphone, but I think next year it'll just be the Note. If they don't make one for some reason, it'll be the S8. I'm kinda over buying the iPhone, only to sell it a month later cause I'm bored with it. I wanna see Apple kill it with the iPhone 8. I already know Samsung will.

Yeah, the notes are always the best tbh, but the problems is I just can wait that long for it tbh, lol. Guess nothing good comes easy!

This was the first year I was going to get a note after trying small phones for a while. This just happened to be the year they released the best overall one which also happened to be the one they messed up.

I'm still at a loss of words on the Note 7. Best phone ever/worst mess up eve . The Note 7, is why I'm waiting on the Note 8. Samsung is coming back strong.

What doesn't your iPhone do that you need?

Multi-window would be nice, since anything with a 5 inch or larger screen benefits greatly from it. Watching a youtube video while surfing the web or idly messaging is so nice. Otherwise, you can study better using multiple resources. For example, in my own case, I can look at a diagram of cranial nerves while reviewing their paths, divisions and functions while on the go. Also, another useful thing is UI scaling now, reducing app UI size helps so much with multi-window and makes everything in general look amazing on larger screens. It is a software issue mainly with iPhones and that will be a problem for a while since Apple is very restrictive. They won't even give their laptops touch screens to push their iPad Pros which ends up making their products inferior compared to say the Surface which beats both the iPad Pro and Macbook Pros in almost every way.

It's not about need only little troll. We also buy these devices for wants. That being said here's a list of why I choose Notes/Edges as my go to device. 1. Multi window 2. Floating window 3. Pop up video 4. S-Pen 5. Themes 6. Scroll capture 7. S-note 8. Action memo 9. Gif maker 10. App drawer 11. Pin to action 12. Schedule messages 13. Edge panel functionality 14. Default apps. 15. Auto restart 16. Customizable quick settings. 17. Long press quick setting into full settings 18. Resize keyboard 19. Symbols on keyboard 20. Download apps and music from more than one app store 21. SD card 22. Apps to Sd card 23. File manager. 24. I'll wait. Notes kick iPhones assess, and that's no debatable.

Wow I didn't realize my asking you would hurt your feelings so bad. So throw away your iPhone and go with the vastly superior Samsung anything. Also you'd be better served at sammobile, since you'll not run across too many Apple articles there. Or are you here doing research for your top ranked YouTube channel?

That my little troll, is the response of someone who just got his little trolling ass owned. I don't have brand loyalty, I have wallet loyalty, and Samsung (for me), is flat out better. Now run along, and troll elsewhere.

Even with a jailbreak, the iPhone still can't do 75% of that, yet cost more than the S7 Edge and Note 7. The iPhone will never be better than the Note, but it could be equal to the S at the least. I don't want an iPhone with a Pen. Right now that would be . Unless Apple fines a waybto split screen apps without infringing on Samsung patent, the iPhone is never natively going to have it. Apple isn't going to ever offer microSD cars internal support, because then people would buy the cheapest model and put an sdcard in it and Apple won't make money from selling more expensive models. The whole setup as we know is for Apple to maximize profits and the easiest waybto do that is, don't use industry standards, domt license patents protect from another OEM unless you absolutely have too.

I've grown using 3D Touch more often than not, having a big phone is hard but 3D Touch really helped ease the burden :)
