13MP front and rear cameras, again? Enter the octa-core THL Monkey King 2
We don't usually go into too much detail about the Chinese smartphone market, mostly because many of those are impossible/hard to come by in the West, but that doesn't mean we aren't keeping an eye out. In fact, the market in the Middle Kingdom has been proving to be increasingly relevant and worth paying attention to, and the latest phone from THL is a case in point.
Dubbed the Monkey King 2, it's the successor of the... well, the Monkey King 1. Much alike to its predecessor, it features a duo of 13MP shooters on the back and front, making this one of the hottest selfies phones out there, at least on paper. Where it excels, however, is the performance department, as the Monkey King 2 will pack MediaTek's newest, most powerful octa-core MT6592 chipset. Company to the MT6592 will play 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal (likely microSD-expandable) storage, and a 1080p display with Corning's latest Gorilla Glass 3 safeguarding it. As you can see from the snaps below, the Monkey King 2 is a looker (though we wish THL would reconsider that logo), and actually reminds of another Chinese powerhouse – the Xiaomi Mi-3.
These are, of course, all unconfirmed at this time, though keep in mind that Chinese manufacturers are very talkative in terms of new products, unlike their more widely-recognized counterparts. In other words, it's not at all too surprising to see detailed information such as this make its way into the wild ahead of an official launch.

An important detail – price – hasn't been mentioned, but given THL's track record, we'd expect something among the lines of up to $299. Best of all, THL's phones are actually relatively easy to come across, with numerous sellers offering them on platforms such as Amazon and eBay.
