Samsung Galaxy S6 to launch in the U.S. on April 11th?
One of our loyal PhoneArena readers has just sent us some information that we know you've been waiting for. According to our tipster, who says that he works for one of the four major U.S. carriers (to protect his identity, we are not telling you which one), he has been told by a Samsung sales rep for the Greater Midwest area that the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be launched on Saturday, April 11th.

To make it clear, the April 11th launch date for Sammy's new flagship is the same for all four major U.S. carriers. Our source tells us that Samsung reps are currently on the road, visiting retail locations with demos of the Galaxy S6.

Samsung reportedly has rung up 20 million pre-orders for both the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. The former has the lion's share of these reservations, accounting for 15 million of them. In the U.S., Verizon is expected to begin accepting pre-orders for the two handsets on April 1st.

As for the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge launch, our tipster informs us that the Samsung rep revealed that the premium model would be released in a "limited capacity" similar to the way that the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge was launched.

Thanks for the tip!

If it was just bit larger and had a removable back well easy one anyway and sd card slot I wouldn't mind having a 5.5 inch one but that might clash with the note series

It's pretty much confirmed that Galaxy S6 has bad battery life ( I read the gsmarena review).
Galaxy S6 has significantly worse battery life than its predecessor Galaxy S5.
Even Samsung's "Superior" 14nm chip which is supposed to be 30-35% more
efficient than 20nm chip, "Superior" Amoled display tech which is supposed to be 20%
more efficient than S5 and energy efficient DDR4 ram can't save Galaxy S6 from having
a pathetic battery life. It even got worse battery life than iPhone 6 on wifi test. And the
worst part is, S6 battery test was done even dimmer condition (at 208 nit) than S5
(at 274 nit). Instead of improving one of the most important aspect of smartphone
Samsung is actually disimproving it. Pretty lame.

The whole review was throwing complements on how Samsung has made the S6 a much much better successor for the S5, the only drawback they found was the battery, and still they mentioned that it still above the average and can give you an easy 2 and half days of moderate use.
What you failed to mention(typical of a hardcore Samsung hater like you) is that the S6 can give you an additional 4 hours of usage in just 10 minutes of charging.
I ll give you a piece of advice, stop wasting your energy on Samsung articles bashing the S6 trying to lure people away from the S6. People will buy it, and the S6 will be a nightmare for HTC and Sony and most importantly for their fans.

Typical Samsung follower. Do you have your own shrine?

Successor should be better in all ways. Sometimes you can't charge phone and this fast charging will give you nothing.

I wonder how much improved the battery life would be with just a 1080p panel. I am still enjoying my Nexus 5 display.

This is like saying a new car is faster, roomier, efficient, comfortable, but the car sucks because it comes with a little smaller gas tank!! "Successor should be better in all ways."
If only thing Samsung haters can come up with is its battery life, Samsung's competitors are in deep trouble.

You are nothing but a Samsung worshiper. If you were a true Samsung fan and well wisher, you would have criticized Samsung for disimproving one of the most important aspect of smartphone. And it's not the only thing gsmarena criticized about S6. The also put Main disadvantages as -

No water or dust protection
Rather pricey at launch, including really steep memory upgrade premiums
No user-replaceable battery
No microSD slot
No FM radio
No stereo speakers

But of course you didn't "see" that even though its in the first page.
"2 and half days of moderate use" - are you kidding me? Now you are just twisting what they said. If you use your phone for 1 hour of call, web and video play then you'll get that kind of battery life. You just intentionally left some sentences just to show the 2 days battery life. If one person use only 1 hour of call, web and video play then even iPhone user can get 2 days of battery life.

It's confirmed that S6 has bad battery life but you worshiper will defend its weakness no matter what that's for sure.

So I am Samsung hater with SGS5? :D Don't you think that successor should be better in at least all important things? I won't mention swappable battery and sd card slot because I am not using them, but keeping waterproofing would be nice.

Says the Sony worshipper lmao
Always bringing the water waterproof excuse of how the S6 sucks. Samsung know that the vast majority of people didn't care about it, and that's why they decided to go without it for the S6, and yet give those who want it the option to buy the upcoming S6 Active.
The stereo speakers were stupid, but since Sony implemented it, you ve been barking about it non stop.
Sd slot, well, i didn't see you crying over it when Sony took it off in the Xperia S??
FM radio? Lmao!! You just proved how you're picking things that Sony offers and Samsung don't to prove a point, should we also bash the S6 for not having cover flaps??

That review seems botched, I don't think their testing methodology is particularly accurate either. The S6 using similar firmware and a more energy efficient display should have achieved similar or better results as well. Either way, if this is a legitimate problem, we can see Samsung seeding an expedited "emergency" firmware patch.

Other than that, the authenticity of this review is poor and the quality is abysmal. Portions of it are incomplete, there's no detailed display analysis or in depth camera reviewing like they do on their format. The problem with GSMArena is that they like to prematurely release their "reviews" several weeks ahead of the competition, then edit in the detail later. Their research is poor and their methodology for their findings is inconsistent.

Wait a few more weeks for real detailed reviews to come in once the embargo lifts, we'll get a better picture then on this whole tale.

Get a life lol. If any of those features mattered, most of which Sony has featured on their phone, then Sony themselves would be selling phones and would not be on the verge of going out of business in the mobile sector. These "perks" aren't indicative of user experience, Samsung knows that and consumers want beautiful hardware with excellent user experience, that's why they're going to continue to always sell more phones than Sony, until the latters inevitable exit from the smartphone market.

You are my very definition of an idiot. Where is it "confirmed" that the S6 has bad battery life? Even GSMArena's rather frothey piece, which did not assert in any way that the S6 had bad battery life. Show me ONE reputable (non Apple funded) publication or tech site that refers to "bad battery life" when referring to the S6.

Just ONE will do.

LMAO. I don't even own a Sony phone, jackass. But once again nice attempt, you are working hard to hide your lord weakness by unnecessarily bringing other companies product. Pathetic.

But, S6 is better in all important things(to general public). People have spoken, consumers bought more iphones than the S5. They decided that they'd rather have better design than waterproofing, swappable battery and sd card slot.
S6 is everything S5 isn't, and it's going to be a game changer.

I am pretty sure if a pole was started now, people would go for a phone packed top notch specs and features having a very good battery life and the ability to fully charge it in 1:15 mins, OVER a phone with a milked out design and yesterday's specs with very poor software support, and a great battery life that needs more than 4 hours to get it fully charged.

V. Good battery life + 10 mins charge for 4hrs of usage or fully charging it in 1:15 is >>>>>> than a great battery that needs 1/5 of the day to get charged.

So in other words Samsung made iPhone with Android. It's bad for me. I ditched iPhones for Samsungs. I hope that LG will still follow old Samsung approach.

Yes, because people thinks that something new is better. This is how their mind works. Fast charging is great for some people, but it can impact battery.

Not really, compare to iphones, Samsung phones have better screen, camera, battery, cpu, memory, design(edge),,,etc.
Besides, Samsung still makes the Note series with sd card and removal battery.

If I follow your logic then GSMArena is also must be a Sony slave. Since gsmarena is the one who put these thing as the Main Disadvantages of Galaxy S6, GSMArena must be a Sony slave.

People have in nature that they "prefer" something that they have or want to have. This makes them not objective.

Then why don't u guys quit complaining bout the SAMSUNG GALAXY designs. If you people quit bytchn bout their design they wouldn't have remove the battery or the SD CARD slot. Plus you can save lots of battery if you turn off your TRAFFIC DATA why the hell can't anyone do that I turn off my traffic data and still come home with 60-50% useage left. I prefer that I like the new design and people don't know how to utilize their phone when it comes to battery life.

With new S6 you can't be sure that new Note will have sd card slot and removal battery.
Nothing can beat Amoleds, but that resolution is too big in my opinion. As you can see battery life in some ways is now similar. Design is subjective, but I like Edge. Still I wish it had profiled back too(same angle as screen). It would feel and look great. I like Apple approach more in terms of CPU and also "small" display resolution. If I am not wrong most apps are using 2 cores. Funny fact that 1 Snapdragon 805 core is faster than 1 new Exynos core. Samsung will always have best in class hardware, because they do it themself.

See the difference between you and GSMarena is that they listed bunch of main advantages found in the S6, and they NEVER claimed that the S6's battery is bad(which btw is running on a pre-release software).
What you failed to mention is that they crowned the S6 with the best display, one the best built and designed phones, one of the best camera phones in the market, the fastest, the most feature rich phone, and many more advantages that you deliberately excluded from your comment.
Once you tell me where GSMarena said the S6 battery is "Bad", then you will not be marked as an ignorant fool. Until then, you are a hell of an ignorant lying fool.

"The battery scores aren't that bad and are in fact higher than average. The S6's battery had enough juice to last 17 and a half hours on 3G calls, almost 9 hours on non-stop web browsing and 10 and a half hours on looped video playback. The stand-by endurance is slightly above average too.

In the end the new flagship managed to achieve of respectable rating of 64h, which might not be as impressive as the 83h mark of Galaxy S5, but it still means your Galaxy S6 will last at least two and a half days if you are using it for an hour of calls, web and video playback each day."

Bonus - "The TouchWiz software on the new Samsung Galaxy S6 is silky smooth with no slowdowns. TouchWiz gets a lot of hate over perceived lag, but there is none on the Galaxy S6 and it features smooth Lollipop-like animated transitions, which makes the experience even better."

"The Samsung Galaxy S6 (and S6 edge for that matter) is the fastest mobile phone you can have at the moment and with 64-bit support in place this should remain the case for some time to come. The flagship offers top notch performance for any use case and may not be surpassed in 2015, looking at just the 5" size (obviously the Note 5 is coming and should be a bit faster)."

wanna go over their review more? lol
