HP ElitePad 900 and 'Smart Jackets' system unveiled: Windows 8 tablet for business with a twist
Share:
HP has just unveiled its ElitePad 900 Windows 8 tablet targeting business users and while it runs on Clover Trail and looks much like the usual Windows 8 affair, it does come with a twist.
The HP ElitePad 900 is a 10.1" slate featuring an IPS LCD display with the mediocre 1280x800-pxiel resolution. That disappointing screen resolution is probably the one bitter pill you’d have to swallow, everything else looks much more interesting starting from the Intel Atom Z2760 chip powering a full Windows 8 32-bit edition and finishing with the sleek 9.2mm thick and 1.5-pound heavy body.
Along the Clover Trail processor, there is 2GB of RAM, 64GB of internal SSD storage and a microSD card slot. HP has packed the ElitePad 900 with connectivity features including NFC, 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. The tablet runs on a 2-cell, 25 WHr battery.
What makes the device stand out, though, is HP’s ‘Smart Jacket’ system of add-on accessories. One example is a case where you plug the tablet to extend its battery life and equip it with a USB port. There is also a clamshell case turning it into a netbook of sorts. HP says it will announce more accessories targeting specific business needs.

Finally, HP is unveiling this way in advance of the actual launch - the ElitePad 900 release date is set for around January 2013.
