Google Assistant may come to both new and existing Sonos speakers by the end of the year. "We're working as hard as we can and so is Google to get it ready for that time," Sonos CEO Patrick Spence told The Verge in a phone call.

Google Assistant integration with the Sonos One speaker has been teased since last year, and though it's yet to happen, Sonos users may actually be in for a lot more than that. Not to mention that the company has expressed willingness in the past to make all Sonos wireless speakers compatible with all virtual assistants out there. A commendable goal, indeed.

Additionally, Patrick Spence noted that Sonos is considering partnerships with both Tencent, Baidu, or another major domestic player to bring a Chinese-language voice assistant to its range of products.

Sonos went public on the Nasdaq exchange Thursday, launching an IPO valued at $16 per share. In a matter of hours, the stock rose over 25 percent for a high of $21, giving the company a valuation of a bit under $2 billion.
